{weekly discussion} Let's talk about the low-DA SEO link myth.... There's a worrying trend where people are just repeating this statement or variations of it: * Get links from high quality domains * Get links from relevant domains Often these two statements are used together/in one. Both are completely wrong. # TL;DR Updated There's a concept that getting backlinks (vs buying) from sites that have "low authority" = damaging to your site - they are not. Spammy sites <> Link Spam (the act of buying or exchanging backlinks) to manipulate search results. # DA and PageRank DA is not... 5 9 replies
Most popular page is not part of our core business I'm trying to find out whether or not I should worry about this... I'm a corporate photographer offering 4 primary specialties. One of my blog posts is about equipment (emphasizing the redundancy in top-rated gear that I bring to a job, to ensure that I'm able to capture a client's event no matter what). It's pretty consistently the top ranking page on my entire site, and ranks #1 for at least a half dozen variations on its title. Is this a problem? I fear that it attracts people looking... 2 9 replies
Strange Traffic So one of the sites I run is a service business targeting an area of California and Pennsylvania. Over the last 3 months I have noticed a huge influx of google organic traffic going to 2 primary pages (1 California and 1 Pennsylvania) The questionable traffic all comes from Houston and Dallas Texas. These markets are not targeted at all and the new user count from these locations is way to high. Any suggestions as to what is going on? 4 0 replies

Over 5,000 pages in Google Search Console are not indexed and are leading to 404 errors. Would fixing these issues improve SEO? We use Shopify, and as per the title, I noticed we have over 5000 pages that are not indexed by Google. Some of them are for products that we had and have since sold out. Would adding redirects to these links which lead to the main collections help in terms of SEO? Or would our time be better spent on creating quality blog content? 5 4 replies
Stop ranking for searches that don't relate to you Hello, I have a skincare brand. We are ranking well for searches related to our company name. However, these is a company that has the same name as us who are a bit scammy. Some how they are getting people onto nutrition subscripts and they are targeting people that don't know how it works. These people then get randomly charged after a "free trial period". They see the name of that company on their bank statement and they google it. Instead of finding the company they are looking for,... 3 6 replies

I mean, what were the search terms used or so? How do you guys discover how your web page can be found via search engines? Are you doing it manually or...? 2 8 replies

Strange looking backlinks that all my competitors have So I've been learning the fundamentals of SEO over the past year or so, and I recently started to actually build websites to put what I've learnt into action. I now have a site that has all the main pages built, and I want to start building backlinks Using my top 4-5 competitors' URL's, I've used Semrush's Backlink Gap tool, so I can try to get some of the same backlinks that they have. However, they all seem to have these strange looking backlinks that have uncommon TDL's such... 1 1 replies
Increase in number of keywords after December'24 update Hello Guys, I have a technology- and software-focused blog site. After Google's recent December update, I could see a promising number of keywords started ranking steadily day by day. I wanted to know the reason behind this. Though I'm pretty happy about it, I still have a dilemma about why this is happening. Is there anything I should have to work on with? Suggestions, please. 4 0 replies
newsletter = duplicate content? Hi all, my client has good, informational newsletters which he wants to upload to the site as blog posts. The content is of very high quality, however it's an exact duplicate of the news letter. Does that count as dupliacte content? Thanks in advance 5 1 replies
SEO challenges and technical issues with .store domain for niche e-commerce Almost a year ago, we launched our site, [example.store](http://example.store), and we’ve barely been getting any impressions. The only impressions we are seeing are from India and the US. Even for the keyword *example*, our site doesn’t show up on Google. I should note that this is an adult toys store, but other similar stores appear on Google and get a lot of organic traffic, so the problem must lie somewhere else. From the beginning, I’ve suspected that the issue might be related to the .store domain. To address this,... 5 0 replies

How to push Yelp down to page 2 of Google search results? So a small business I represent has many 4 and 5 star reviews on Yelp. However, when you Google this store’s name, Yelp returns second and the snippet beneath that is terrible review by a lunatic customer who was upset about price. So the second result on Google Search is Yelp, with a specific highlighting of the bad reviews. If you click Yelp, there are a sea of positive of reviews, but having this be the second result is actively deterring customers. Yelp refuses to budge on the review,... 3 1 replies
Share WordPress login on Fiverr Hi, I have been looking to get SEO done on my website and each Fiverr consultant is asking for admin access to WordPress. I imagine that would be needed but is there a risk of doing so? Can I take a website backup on my desktop before sharing the login? Any other things I should keep in mind? It's my first time - so welcome your thoughts. Thanks! 1 2 replies

Client has a website on a "limited" platform. Suggest switching to Wordpress? Sometimes we get some clients who created websites on platforms that end up limiting our work, examples: They don't allow access to the code, they don't allow optimizing tags, meta description. I like to add a floating WhatsApp button, but many platforms don't allow it. Some don't allow you to create blogs... Anyway. In this case, what situations should I consider before deciding to suggest to the client that they take their website to Wordpress? With a change like this, could the site "lose" its SEO history and have... 4 0 replies
Am I doing local SEO right? Hey everyone. I'm a Rolfer near Detroit. It's kind of like massage and physical therapy. Not many people know it, so that's a marketing issue in itself lol. Happy to talk about the work, though maybe elsewhere. My website is serolfing.com. I've really been diving into SEO the last couple weeks and feel pretty good about my plan. Rolfing is very niche. There aren't many in the area. It's not hard to find me if you're looking for it in southeast Michigan. I sometimes get people driving an hour... 3 2 replies
