Yes you are overthinking, Krishna says: do karma but with detachment from it and with an understanding of him. So, I suggest instead of running away from materialism you try and detach from it. There is a subtle difference. Just follow your dharma and you will attain money and moksha. Dharma is your duty, as a son, as a partner, at your work. Thinking about leaving materialism is much harder than actually leaving it, so work with it instead. Sorry if the answer is a mess, it was a whole lot of thoughts
