Permanently "Don't allow" an extension from filtering network content

I'm on MacOS Sequoia (15.2), and starting today, I've been seeing a permissions dialog asking for an extension that "Would Like to Filter Network Content" with a friendly subtitle of "All network activity on this Mac may be filtered or monitored". I do not want to allow this, but clicking Don't Allow just re-spawns the dialog a few seconds later. Is there a way to *permanently* disallow this permission?

Do I need free space on my Mac to copy to iCloud?

Hi, I'm trying to copy a sizeable amount of files from an external hard drive onto iCloud, and I'm being told that I don't have enough free space. I know that isn't true, I have loads of free space on my iCloud, so I wondered, does the Mac need to have that free space available to enable it to upload to iCloud? Thanks, Stew

Unable to update to Sequoia

I can not seem to figure out why, but my computer will not allow me to upgrade to Sequoia. I’m currently running Sonoma 14.7.1 I’ve downloaded Sequoia and then it attempts to open the “Install MacOS Sequoia” app, but the app pops up in the dock and immediately closes. I’ve tried deleting the app, and redownloading the update. I’ve tried downloading the update from Apples website directly. I’ve tried booting in safe mode to run the application. But it does the same thing every time. I have run Disk...

When I save an image from the web to my mac, why does it download a file with lots of random documents?

Hi there, apologies in advance if this isn't the right place for this question. I recently saved two images from Instagram (browser) and IMDB to my mac to use as a reference for a drawing. Both saves created files with lots of documents ending .js and .css. How can I just download an image without this happening? (I'm completely computer illiterate) Thank you.

What is `replicatord` and other new mysterious daemons in Sequoia?

I run Little Snitch on my mac, call me paranoid or maybe just curious about what my devices are talking about within my network. I've started seeing more alerts for new Apple signed daemons trying to communicate with other devices and one of which is `replicatord`. In the past, I've been able to find at least some information from the on-board man pages (EG `rapportd`, `transparencyd` and other such *things*) or sometimes I've been able to see some contextual information provided by Objective Development (the authors of Little Snitch)....

Conceptual help with synching—and ultimately, just how foolproof is it?

Would you be interested in a Cloud Time Machine product?

I love Time Machine but I don’t love external drives and my NAS setup doesn’t really work reliably when I’m traveling. So I tried to find a simple cloud service that I can connect Time Machine to and upload back ups. Since I didn’t find any, I’m thinking about making one myself. Would anyone else here be interested in using something like this?

Bluetooth Crossed wont work / System keychain importing Error 10001 after updating

Posting this because it fixed 2 problems I had with my imac A1418 after updating it from big sur to ventura and want to help others that have them. The most notable one was the bluetooth, after updating it showed crossed and didnt work (some mouse functions didnt work too). The other one was related to adding certificates to the system keychain. Any way to export a WiFi "Profile"?

I have an old Mac. In System Preferences (macOS Monterey), I have a "Profiles" option. That shows one entry: "XFINITY WiFi" I think this is from when I used to have an Xfinity account, because it automatically connects me to any Xfinity Wi-Fi networks - pretty nifty...except this isn't my main computer (and I don't have an Xfinity account anymore but the profile still works). I'd love to export this profile to my other main Mac but I'm not sure where it's stored or how to export it. Keychain...

Huh? Entered Time Machine folder shows items newer than my chosen timeline date?

– I open a folder in the Finder. – I do Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine menu in the menu bar. – I use the timeline on the right to find & click the date I want. – The stack of folder windows animates, presumably indicating that it's taking me to my chosen date. But the list shows some files whose date is more recent. I thought I'm supposed to be looking at a snapshot, so all the dates should be only the snapshot date or older....
