Multiple Time Machine backups via 1 hard drive on Asus router Just an informative post since I have posted here before regarding this issue. I was previously trying to connect an external HDD to my Asus router and use it as a Time Machine backup. What I was doing was trying to partition the disk first into 2 volumes since I was hoping it would allow me to set 2 different backups for 2 different laptops. But nothing I tried could get it working right. Time Machine settings wouldn't accept these as usable disks. But I noticed that the Asus... 5 0 replies
Water got to my Mac I have a MacBook Pro and it had some water spilled on it yesterday when a few friends were over. I saved for a while for it so I’m trying desperately to save it. Any tips or what to look for. I was able to get the back off and I’ve been leaving it to dry while keeping it off. From what I saw online the key is that it making sure it didn’t get to the logic board - any way to know that for sure? Thanks for... 3 4 replies
2014 MBP. Should I install Sequoia? I have a pretty mint condition mid-2014 MBP running Big Sur. It’s barely used because I’ve always had a work MBP as well as a personal iMac or Mac Mini at home. I’ve read that Sequoia might slow it down. Anyone else have experience with this? Should I keep it on Big Sur? Or maybe upgrade to something in between? For reference, these are the specs: 2.6 GHz Dual-Core i5 8GB RAM Intel Iris 1536 MB graphics 3 0 replies
New Monitor = Black Screens on startup of Mac Mini 2018 Hello all, I wonder if you know anything about this type of thing. tl;dr: I bought a second hand monitor, which works fine but prevents my system from booting up properly. The new monitor is one of three. If it's plugged in, everything's just black upon powering the Mini. If I unplug the new monitor, all boots up as normal. I can then plug the monitor in and carry on as nomral but it's a big pain getting round the back of my desk each time. Would love to... 5 0 replies
Safari, printing directly to PDF? I know how to print. However, the process involves five steps of clicking. I want to know if there is a way to print directly to PDF without having to go through the intermediate steps. That is to say, I click this print option p, the webpage prints directly to the previous folder selected as a PDF. Quick and easy. Is this possible? 4 0 replies
Is a winrar alternative needed for mac? As the title says, I just got a MacBook pro and I am normally a windows guy. Do I need to get a winrar alternative to unzip files? If so, what are some good ones you would recommend? 3 10 replies

What program is this that wants to update in MacOS Sequoia 15.3? [I cannot find an easy answer in google image search. It's my wife's computer and she has some programs that I do not use.](https://preview.redd.it/sxjtkaavofhe1.jpg?width=860&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fba009cf1742ad52a52da1c42e3013e7fef926b6) 2 1 replies
Question on Time machine migration after setting up new Mac I have an old Mac I need to get rid of, and a brand new Mac I need to set up sooner than the time it would take to migrate files, or restore from time machine. I was wondering if there would be any problems if for the sake of time constraints, set up my new Mac, and at a later date, transfer all the stuff I want to keep, from the time machine (having backed up the old Mac), to the new Mac. Please anybody let me know... 5 3 replies
What’s the best way to handle leftover files from uninstalled apps? Over the years of downloading, using, then potentially uninstalling apps I’m sure a lot of apps leave behind files that are no longer needed and are just taking up space. What’s the best way to find these files and remove them? I believe the storage display in system settings only displays the size of app bundles and doesn’t account for support files, and deleting apps using this is sure to leave files behind. I’ve heard that apps like CleanMyMac give pretty bad performance hits and use shady and exaggerated... 4 4 replies
There has to be a way to go back to iTunes and not have to use Music? So I upgraded to a new Macbook a couple of months ago after refusing to update my 2015 so I could continue using iTunes. I've been using Music since I got this new Macbook and it's still horrendous for offline music. There has to be a way to get the old iTunes or a similar program! It was literally perfect for music organisation and Music isn't even half of iTunes. They recently discontinued Retroactive which allowed you to mirror iTunes and that was the only viable option :( Anyone... 2 0 replies
$12 iMac WITH ISSUE - Help!! The iMac keeps restarting, sometimes it doesn't even get to the login screen. Does anyone have any idea on what the issue could be? I’d love to know if someone knows a solution as this would be a great everyday driver if I upgrade to a cheap SSD iMac 2010 3.2GHz, 12GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 21.5" display, fresh install of High Sierra. Will I be able to run newer versions of MacOS with open core legacy patcher? What’s the realistic newest OS that would work ‘well’ for stuff like... 5 1 replies
Opened my MacBookPro today to find Apple Intelligence was automatically enabled -_- I know it was already installed in the background, but I never activated it. But on boot up, I was greeted with the Terms and Conditions and I couldn't navigate away from it. Pretty shitty move, imho 2 3 replies
Malwarebyte and / or Intego Hi, I hope members of this group can help me, since I am uncertain about these different apps. I use Intego, mainly since I got fed up with the jungle of subscription costs over at BitDefender. And also since Intego is Mac only. I have now tested a free version of Malwarebytes since I was recommended that it was good at finding ... well, malware. Being a procrastinator I of course run both, but I guess that they have the same or similar functions? So: do I need both... 4 0 replies
Microsoft 365 license ending, what other options are available, WPS Office? I’ve been using Microsoft Word and Excel ever since I graduated college (which was a few years ago), and I’ve always assumed my alumni license was permanent. But I just got a notification saying my Microsoft 365 access will expire next month, and I’ll lose everything unless I start paying. I’m pretty frustrated; apparently it wasn’t a lifelong benefit after all. What really stings is that I recently turned down a good deal on Office 2021 with a perpetual license, and now I’m stuck. I’m considering my options: *... 4 0 replies
Sharing External Drive on Network? I can't figure out what's going wrong here. Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.2. I want to share an external SSD drive (connected via thunderbolt) to the other macs on the network but nothing seems to work. * I ticked "Shared Folder" in the Get Info pane for the drive but it doesn't seem to have done anything. * I've gone to Settings -> File Sharing and clicked the + to add the drive as a shared drive but once clicking that, it doesn't add it to the list of... 5 0 replies
Is Sequoia ready for prime time daily driver work including media creation? After years of ongoing issues / compatibility problems and bugs, I'm wondering if Sequoia is stable and quick for other users - especially on M1 Pro 32GB? I don't expect specific compatibility comments but would like to know if Adobe CC, and Resolve run well for others? Thank you in advance! EDIT: I just read the Sequoia Megathread and guess I got my answer lol - at least as of 3-5 mos ago? 1 0 replies
Unknown software running Recently while starting up my mac, After it had finished booting and the apps had started to load, I noticed a loading bar, and before I could identify it, it disappeared. I recently downloaded microsoft teams so I dont know if that is it. Its something i have never seen before, the bar looked like the window that pops up asking for your computer password when you do any admin tasks, and that is what concerns me. I tried looking into force quit and app activity, however nothing came... 4 0 replies
