noindex tag on XML sitemap link I noticed that my XML sitemap URL has a "noindex" tag, which is preventing me from submitting it for indexing. However, all of my individual pages and blog posts are indexed. Is this an issue, or will it not affect my site's visibility on search engines 2 4 replies
some subdomain pages have better ranking than the main domain So my company has an old website: **xxx\[dot\]com**. Then they want to create a new one, so they opened a new server and created the new website **www\[dot\]xxx\[dot\]com**, but they did not put it live in the first place. Then they created the subdomain **sub\[dot\]xxx\[dot\]com (for other customers)** from the old website, and they made the subdomain live for a while. For few months later, they put all the 301 redirects from the old website to the new website and made it live. Also, the subdomain and new website... 5 2 replies

How hard is it to do SEO for businesses today? Hey folks, I stopped working as a Team Lead SEO in 2021 and changed my career to become a developer instead, as I got bored by all the politics coming with that position. However, I still check in here and there with the SEO world as I have some websites running, and they generate some side income with Ads, link insertions, guest posts, and affiliate programs. I feel like it becomes harder nowadays, especially for anyone who works for businesses (small niche projects seem to do well still), with... 1 11 replies
Most writers are terrible at blog introductions I spend hours explaining this to Writers every week No one is Googling to hear about: "The constant changes in the technological landscape" "It's a common issue that many businesses face" “Today’s rapidly changing times” Instead of opening with: \- Cliches \- Generalisations \- Sweeping statements \- School research paper-like monologues \- Rhetorical questions with obvious answers Take time to understand the reader. \- Their journey to the post \- Their expertise level \- Their pain point Imagine a small business owner searching for the 'best payroll software' to... 4 17 replies
{AHrefs} Google Says “Links Matter Less”—We Looked at 1,000,000 SERPs to See if It’s True No comment - this information is posted verbatim from Ahrefs blog: >Google has said links are less important than they used to be, and most SEOs have come to accept that as true. Our findings indicate that this is true overall, but for certain types of queries, links matter more. >I still believe that links should be a part of your SEO strategy, but they shouldn’t be your whole strategy. A while back, I answered the question, “Do links still matter for rankings?” by disavowing all links to a... 1 0 replies
{weekly tip} Here's an upsell for every SEO provider/consultant/agency: competitive takedown A lot of clients - especially in a boom time - hesitate with doing SEO competitive take downs or even mentioning their competitors on their site.... 1. Does Dynamic Interlinks on a Static Homepage Affect SEO and Link Equity? I''m managing a homepage where the main content is static, but the interlinks (product and navigation links) change dynamically based on the user's region. Currently, the regional URLs are embedded directly in the source code, which raises concerns about SEO and link equity. I noticed a competitor using a similar approach but without exposing dynamic URLs in the page source code. Their setup appears cleaner and potentially more SEO-friendly. My main questions: 1. Could embedding region-specific dynamic links harm link equity or dilute SEO rankings? 2. Are there best... 5 0 replies
+1 reason to buy .com domain names only People can link to you even when they don't plan to. I researched the Ahrefs Academy and decided to see what one of the lessons looks like. This lesson's page (/academy/how-to-use-ahrefs/site-explorer/top-pages) is indexed by Google and has an active backlink to Monday\[dot\]com. I am sure that the Ahrefs team did not plan to put a link there. This page has a backlink with http:// protocol, not https://. Also, there is no backlink to Clickup. I hypothesize that this happened for 2 reasons: 1/ The Clickup brand can be recognized... 2 1 replies

Google overriding meta descriptions? I’m having trouble with Google overriding my custom meta descriptions. Despite using unique meta descriptions set with AIO SEO, Google often displays text from what appears to be a FAQ section on my site. I’ve checked my JSON-LD schema markup, which includes LocalBusiness, BreadcrumbList, Review, and Offer types—but no FAQPage or Question/Answer schema. The content is definitely on the page, but not marked up as FAQ. I’ve also verified my meta descriptions follow recommended best practices (length, keyword inclusion, etc.). I do have many pages but all serving different... 3 1 replies
Suggestions! I have a relatively new site dedicated solely to travel blogs, and I've managed to rank some keywords for it. However, I'm wondering if focusing exclusively on blogs is sustainable in the long run. Should I keep it blog-exclusive, or should I consider adding other elements, like travel guide eBooks or something similar, to ensure long-term growth? 2 3 replies
Only $19.99 for 400 Backlinks+5 Keywords, Could it be fake? I recently came across an ad on Facebook offering 400 backlinks and 5 keywords for just $19.99. It seems too good to be true—could it be fake? Previously, I spent $40 on traffic, and while the sessions were decent (around 350 clicks daily), but there were no any registrations or sales at all. I’m wondering if backlinks like these actually work or if they’re just a waste of money. 5 3 replies
