How can we remove spam links The links were created by spammers. It's been more than four months since we disavowed all the spam links, but Ahrefs still shows 6.4M backlinks. 4 1 replies
Does putting in the city and state help with ranking? As the title suggests, would putting the city and state in each page multiple times help with ranking for local SEO? Building a skin aesthetics website and just hoping for best practices as of today. 2 3 replies
Dodgy Looking Backlinks I'm confused about backlinks at the moment. So far I have two back links that are legitimate but 40odd that are clearly spam websites. I can't work out how to get rid of them and here's why: When I visit the backlinks they appear to be using images from my website to promote products they are selling, the backlinks are linking directly to my images so when you click on the images they open up in a tab with an address that's my website. The images that they're using... 4 1 replies
Does anybody actually know how much unique AI slop you can create with one model? So, I am running an experiment to test to see how much unique AI slop a model can actually produce and obviously it's producing quite a bit. Does anybody have any clue at the "mathematical theory of AI slop production?" How much slop should I expect from a 685gb model? Anybody have any clue how many petabytes of storage I'm going to need for this task or is it just going to produce like a "quasar of AI slop?" Where, it's technically going to just keep producing more and... 2 1 replies
Will Original Content be worse than HCU? I'll probably put more thought into this but I think the Information Gain patent is about to be deployed. Why is it interesting - it could be a battle of dumb vs AI and put things firmly in Google's favor. Giving great information without a subjective overview and reduce the reliance on consensus truth..... # >Techniques are described herein for determining an information gain score for one or more documents of interest to the user and present information from the documents based on the information gain score. Google Guidelines Warns Of Significant Scrolling On Recipe Blogs Another update in the revised Google Quality Raters Guidelines that was updated on January 23rd was that they added a section for recipe sites and said that requiring "significant scrolling" or making it hard to find the jump to recipe button is not a good thing. > The primary purpose of the page is to share a recipe for Butterbeer. While helpful MC such as the ingredients and information about Butterbear are at the top of the page. significant scrolling is required to find the actual Butterbeer recipe. The... 5 0 replies
It looks like Google is lifting the HCU Classifier? Saw a couple of threads today on X - some are saying its a recovery - but I think its more like a lift of a throttle - but here are some of threads with people seeing rankings returning. As usual there's a mix of deleting content, "brand" link building, etc - but it doesnt look like a gradual re-evaluation Looks like Google is getting rid of the HCu for now. In other news - Google says a big, brand new change for 2025 will be "original content" -... 1 7 replies
Rankings Declined Terribly After the Brand Name Change, Need Help Hello everyone, I have a service business running since 8 years. At one point, we were at the 1st rank for the keywords we wanted. It was just great. Then it slowly decreased and I didn't manage the crisis properly, for not working on new content and not trying to get new backlinks. After the top-up period, we were around the last query of the first page for every keyword we wanted to rank. While desperately looking for a solution, I found out that the domains that rank higher... 5 6 replies
Similar Titles and SEO: Canonical or Noindex? Hi everyone! Do you think that two pages with similar titles could negatively affect search rankings? In other words, could the second page somehow interfere with the main page’s ranking? Here’s a specific example: Homepage: "Roof Cleaning in Dallas". This page covers roof cleaning, but the company also offers additional services, each of which should have its own separate page. In the site menu, there will be a "Services" section containing a dropdown with all the services the company offers, including a page called "Roof Cleaning Service Dallas", which... 2 2 replies

Overnight (Sustained) 75% Drop in Traffic Hey all, long story short I run two sites in the legal services area full time and the November core update hit us HARD. 75% decrease across both sites overnight, and despite all efforts, we haven't bounced back from the spike yet. (Updating core content, posting new high quality internally linked blogs, improved site performance) Is there anything actionable to do at this point outside of existing tried and true strategies? Does this point to a bigger core issue with our site? 5 1 replies
Dentist Website Won't Rank Background: I run an seo agency and have been tasked with ranking for the keyword dentist "city". I can’t get past the 2nd page for my life. We have grown the GMB to have the most reviews as well as the highest reviews for dentist in the city. The home page has better / more backlinks now than those on the first page ever had. In addition, I believe the home page is much better optimized than others on the page. Why won't my ranking change? It makes no... 2 16 replies
Ads and cyber police call My brother was working at a clinic as marketing manager. The owner of that clinic said he will give 10% of his profits if he improves his sales. But he didn't. He left the job but the stuff like laptop etc was with him. After discussion, after returned the stuff. But that doctor didn't give his 17 days of salary. So he messaged him some abusive stuff. Also he deleted his ads that he set up. All this happened on 20-22 of January. Now out of the blue, my... 2 2 replies

Everything I know about keyword research Hey all, I thought you might find this helpful. For years I've been wanting to crystallize all my thoughts on keyword research (mostly as a reference for myself) but also as a helpful manifesto for anyone wanting to learn/improve their keyword research skills. I just dropped a video (won't link here to obey rules, but it's on my YouTube channel if you search Matt Kenyon SEO) that talks through my entire process from start-to-finish doing keyword research for a hypothetical SaaS company. If you don't want to watch, here's... 2 0 replies
Recycling parts of email PDF as a blog post. Will this hurt my SEO? I am finishing up a PDF ebook I plan to give away to anyone who enters their email for my list. It's 135 tips related to my niche and each tip is about 100 words making the whole thing around 14k words. I had the idea to take about 25-30 of these tips (about 3k words) and use it as a blog post to promote the PDF ebook. Of course I will say that it's an excerpt from the book and if you want the rest of the tips... 3 0 replies
Google Profile Help I am helping a friend (for free) build the online presence for his personal training business in TX. His company's setup is something I'm not super familiar with. He currently has his Google Profile tied to the LLC which handles the corporate business, while he does 80% of his business under a DBA which is basically just his name. He recently purchased a domain which is named after the DBA/ his name. I know use both names in his Google profile. Looking for suggestions on how to organize things... 3 0 replies

No content changes, to server or CSS changes, just changing from URL A to URL B. What sort of things as an SEO should I be considering and helping with during the migration process? 3 0 replies
50% traffic drop since 30th of January Hi, I'm responsible for the performance of 6 regional webshops in a niche B2B market but since January 30th we are seeing a 50% organic decrease across all webshops. GA also indicates an anomaly every day. We haven't pushed any new features live or there hasn't been any negative market developments since then. Is anyone else experiencing a large active user drop? 7 4 replies
