Being forced to install anti-virus, which one to pick? I will soon be transitioning into a freelance role at my company using my own device. To comply with my contact I’m being told I have to install anti-virus software on my MacBook. I know the general opinion is that macs don’t need antivirus. I’ve been through all the reasons why, I’m just looking for advice. Is installing antivirus software risky and will it slow down my mac? Sequoia bug. Dragging photos into Messages is pasting into the wrong conversation. I've been doing this for YEARS without problem. I keep messages open on the side, just enough where I can see the contact bubble for each conversation. I typically will drag photos or screenshots from Safari into Messages (while Messages is still technically in the background), then the image will paste into the correct conversation with 100% accuracy. For some reason with Sequoia, it fails 100% of the time. Now I need to actually have Messages in the foreground and to be on the correct conversation to paste it... 4 0 replies
People who use multiple browsers regularly: What are y'all doing in each? To piggyback off the "Best Browser for Mac" post in here: I saw a lot of people respond to that by indicating they use several browsers on a regular basis. Not just one at work and one on their home Macs, but multiple browsers open simultaneously, or at least several they switch between on a regular basis. why does apple make processes migrate back-and-forth between cores instead of sticking in places? I seem to remember years ago I could open activity monitor and watch processes migrate back-and-forth between cores for seemingly no reason instead of just sticking in places. why does apple design like this? as i know stricking on prev cpu will be helpful on L1 cache miss. 2 4 replies
notifications are delayed its a bug I guess I noticed that the notification pop-up appears a bit too late, around 5 or 10 seconds after the notification sound. I think it might be because of Apple’s ‘summerized notifications’ feature, but I personally prefer the summerized pop-ups. What do you think? 5 0 replies

Carbon Copy Cloner insists APFS is best for backup drives - even spinning rust - but everywhere else seems to suggest HFS+, what to do?? Hi all, just invested in two new identical spinning rust drives to go alongside a couple of existing ones, for external storage and backup of that storage. I use Carbon Copy Cloner 7 for all such tasks and when I set these new drives up it's pretty insistent in recommending APFS, for the backup drive at least, claiming it's best for backups. After a year and half on my macbook air, using it without paying attention to cycles and stuff, i got 95 cycles and 98% of battery life. My 2020 Mac Air's constantly throttles for nothing So I bought the 2020 Mac Air the year it came out, and I hear lots about problems that this Mac gen has for people. It's the last generation of Intel cores btw. My fan regularly throttles to near max RPM, getting very loud. And I recently realized that when this happens my CPUs, Memory, and GPU gets to around 90-100 degrees C. Why is this happening? How to stop Siri to cut off audio during listening and responding Is this annoying only to me or..? For example, I love to multitask so I listen to some podcast on YT while taking notes on some other things and in certain moment I want to ask Siri about weather tomorrow…that 2-5 seconds in between Siri’s listening and response YT audio is completely cut off.
