Any way to Auto Unlock 🔓 Mac with nearby iPhone?

I’m new to Mac, but have had iPhones, and iPads for years. I see that you can auto-unlock Mac with Apple Watch, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/102442 , but as far as I can tell, there seems to be no way to auto-unlock with iPhone. Does this feature exist? If not, WHY not? Am I just missing something? THANKS.

Another post about this: Anyone else's correct password not being accepted from their Macbook Pro's after recent update? Touch ID is working but not the password. Worried to fully shut down my mac.

Found another thread online about this happening to others and saw a semi positive response on a work around but I'm paranoid to turn off my laptop as I have to do a boat load of school work this week on my laptop. Is there anything else I can do to fix this other than doing a hard reset and going through the terminal? Why hasn't mac addressed this smh.

WiFi keeps dropping after Sequoia 15.3 Update

I updated to 15.3 yesterday and my WiFi keeps dropping every couple minutes. I need to disable WiFi and reenable it and it works for a few minutes before dropping again. Anybody else experience the same issue?

Suggestions about new MacBook purchase

Looking at buying a 2022 MacBook Pro m2. Machine has some water damage so it’s selling for $480. I’m not super tech savvy but I have the required screw drivers and can follow a YouTube video. Any suggestions for what to look for/test if I meet up with the seller? Is this just a bad idea in general? I’m just hoping to get a new school computer that’ll last 3+ more years for a good price. I appreciate any help!

Tiling option in Sequioa

Is there an option to add more "zones" for the function "Hold Option key while dragging windows to tile"? I only have half left, half right, and fill. I would like it be, say, quarters and fill.

Safari text scaling issue

Wondering if anyone else has this same issue. When I'm using Safari in fullscreen mode, text on websites will randomly decide to shrink to an unreadable level. I've tried setting the "Never use font sizes smaller than..." setting to "14" but still get this issue. Doesn't seem to matter if I have that setting enabled or not, text still shrinks all on its own. The only way to "fix" is to exit fullscreen, which immediately resets the fonts to their correct size. How to keep syncthing from running when on metered network?

I'd like to use Syncthing on my Macbook, but since MacOS doesn't have a concept of "metered networks" (seriously Apple, how many decades do you need to add this???), I need to come up with a way to stop Syncthing from running when I'm connected to my phone's shared hotspot connection. I'm thinking about just writing a small script that will kill Syncthing when it's connected to any of the SSIDs that I specify (which I'd probably just store in a text file), and then re-start when it's connected...

How to ALWAYS keep files in a grid in Finder?

Older iMac from storage, cannot update OS and related

Hello Apple friends, I have an older iMac (late 2013) that hasn’t been powered up in maybe 3-4 years. Running OS Yosemite 10.10.5, 3.2Ghz Intel Core i5 w/8gb 1600 MHz DDR3 ram. Hard drive has 80% free space. I need to use this machine for a project since my phone just isn’t going to work. Problem: tried updating through App Store, gives error message of “Safari can’t open the page Support.Apple.Com because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server”. I have cleared browser data and cleared history....

Caendar App taking file extension priority over Thunderbird

Countless times I have set the .ics extension to open exclusively in Thunderbird but MacOS keeps resetting to the Calendar app for it and I have no idea why. Any ideas on how to stop this behavior? I do not wish to use Calendar at all.

It’s crazy to me how people think Windows has better window management than MacOS.

On what planet? On what basis? Alt+tab becomes a mess if you have a decent amount of windows open. There is no Command+Tilde equivalent to cycle through an app’s windows. There is no Command+H equivalent to hide all windows of an app. There is no Command+Click equivalent to reposition a window behind your active window. There is barely even any space to grab a window when you want to drag it. Have you got more than a few tabs open in Edge? Have fun carefully positioning your cursor to...

Error while reinstalling macOS

after doing a factory reset on my mini mac m1 2020, i keep running into the issue when i try to reinstall my OS, every time it is almost at the end it gives me an error that says ' an error occurred while preparing the installation. try running this application again'. I even tried creating bootable USB using my pc, but mac won't let me run the installation from it for some reason. Do you guys have any idea how i can fix this issue?

How to fix my camera on facetime, photobooth etc, (OBS Studios)

Iv'e recently downloaded OBS and was trying to get it to work, I then deleted cause it wasn't working and it was this whole problem what's so ever. Its deleted but the image like provided above, doesn't let me to use my camera for anything. Can someone help please?

Issue with white lines.

I have a macOS Monterey Version 12.7.6 and it's recently decided to have these lines on it. I've restarted it and shut it down multiple times and I can't get it to go back to normal. It just slowly gets whiter? Like on a loop
