Restore data

Due to some stupid mistake I changed my external drives partition from apfs to exfat through the Powershell and data on it is not available. Is it possible to get it fully back? Didn’t save a new data on it since then and any software I tried can find around 100gb (movies only) which is about 5% of that I lost (need my books and hi-res music, movies are safe at my accounts) Also, if I turn it back to apfs, it will wipe data fully?

Photos Backups for Multiple Family Members

I want to back up my Photos library and my wife’s Photos library to external storage, but I don’t know how to ensure hers are backed up without manual intervention. Best way to create an archive/backup of my Apple Mail to the cloud

In the light of the recent fires in L.A., I've been looking at ways to create off-site snapshots of important files. My email archive is definitely important. I have multiple email addresses on my Mac so that complicates things immediately. I've also organized the forty years of old email (yes, that's old stuff but I've saved myself a lot of grief being able to pull things up from way-back) into folders. Often folders within folders. So, while organized, it's complicated. I already have a time machine backup of everything...

MBP and MBA running 15.3 -- Safari not syncing -- which MacBook has "priority / seniority" so to speak?

I can create a note in the Notes app on the MBA and it shows up on the MBP and vice versa. But I can't create a folder and put bookmarks in the folder in the *Favorites* of Safari on the MBA and have it show up on the MBP, even though I have Safari to be synced via iCloud. I have tried toggling Sync to iCloud till I'm blue in the face. Both are running macOS 15.3; MBA is M3 and MBP is M4, though the hardware shouldn't...

why blackbaze personal plan is recommended?

Honestly don't know why is so often recommended. I didn't like it. After installation it showed me that I have 8TB for backup and immediately started the process without asking anything. First of all, I don't have that much data, it must calculated capacity of the all the cloud drives, secondly, a backup of a running database or virtual machine is pointless. I am sure that restoring it won't work, besides, these are very large files like 100GB, that change frequently, so approach to the backup should be different....

I don't why I don't have storage

My computer said to me that my disk was full, I freed up like 40gb and then a couple hours later it said again. But, I checked the app sizes and it didn't make sense, so I did the sums and I have 24.63gb storage in apps but my computer is saying 68.82gb. Have Mac Pro 2012 and 4 x 4TB drives. Want to make a local network file server.

Idea: Want a place to put movies, TV series, audiobooks, photos, downloaded files. We have a generally slow internet link, in theory 100 Mb/sec, in practice about 40 Mb/sec down and 3 Mb/sec up. Any way to hack macOS to allow pro motion whilst on power saving mode?

I have a MacBook Pro M4 pro and battery life significantly improves on battery saver mode. Unfortunately the only drawback is I have to use only 60hz when it is on. If anyone is experienced in "hacking" macOS, how would I go about changing this?

All my windows open at the same time every day

MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2003 Apple M2 Pro Sequoia 15.3 Every day at 12:05pm (the time isn't relevant, but it's always at that time), my MacBook Pro opens every window from all my open apps and stacks the windows on one desktop (I have an external monitor). These are windows that I have minimized into the dock/app icon, but they get opened and moved to a single desktop. I have no idea what setting does this or why it happens. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is it super unsafe to keep running High Sierra on my 2017 MacBook Air?

Given the recent Apple vulnerability, I was looking to upgrade my system but don’t actually see an option to, I’m assuming because I bought the is computer in 2018. I’m not very computer savvy and only use the computer for basic items, but I do online banking, etc so just wanted to see if it was a really bad idea to keep using this computer given high sierra is no longer supported! Should I upgrade it to something even if I can’t upgrade it to the most recent system?...

Dowload files disapear

Hi, so today when I randomly checked my downloads folder today every file in it was missing, I doubt any of them were important but Im curious as to how tf this happened. I checked the trash and it still has files I put in it a couple of weeks ago so I couldn't have emptied trash. I also tried using disk drill and it couldn't find the files either

Got a 2008 Mac Mini as a gift—What can I do with it?

A kind neighbor gave me a 2008 Mac Mini along with an AirPort Extreme. The Mac Mini is completely wiped, so it doesn't have an operating system installed. Time Machine keeps backing up an external drive that no longer exists

I had an external SSD named "Photos" that was getting backed up via Time Machine. That drive failed and I restored from the backup to a new SSD which is now named "Photos". When Time Machine backs up now, it keeps backing up the old non-existent SSD and it has the name "Photos 1" in the Time Machine backups. How do I get rid of this?
