Sleep disabled on macOS 15.3

I haven't changed any previous settings, but since I upgraded to macOS 15.3 my MacBook stopped going to sleep when closing the lid and the sleep apple menu item is greyed out. Microsoft Word not responding on Mac. Rainbow cursor.

Okay, so I am using Microsoft Word and I want to save a document I just finished, but the application is not responding. It is doing that thing where the mouse is spinning in a rainbow-like motion. I know I can force quit, but if I force quit, will all my edits be cancelled? I do not have autosaved turned on

filter search results to find 24bit audio files

Hi, is there a way on Mac to search for Wav/Flac audio files but only retrieve the results for all the files that are 24bit, i don't mind purchasing an app for it but it would be great if there's a way to do it in Finder... thanks!

How does Mission Control decide where to put windows?

I'm just wondering why Mission Control places windows the way it does, since it seems so random. I can launch it over and over, and it seems to shift between layouts even though I don't move the cursor or the windows. Is it just randomized?

Hi, Recently updated to the latest version Sequoia 15.3 and now constantly battle the WindowServer using all the CPU from the word go. No apps or windows open NVRAM and SMC reset CPU reaches 100C by doing nothing on the machine 🤬 Any idea folks? I can’t is the machine at all. Opening chrome or safari opens half the window and then freezes. Everything is totally sluggish

Will signing out of Apple ID wipe my data?

I’m having an issue with my M1 MacBook Air and i’ll be sending it in for repair to my universities IT Helpdesk, they’ve asked me to sign out of my Apple ID and remove it from the Find My Device service. I’m worried that logging out will wipe all my data especially because I don’t keep anything stored in iCloud, will that happen?

Is there a way to pin widgets and overlay them on the desktop

Using the Windows game bar, you can access your widgets, and you can pin and overlay them on the desktop and while using other apps and programs. Pinning them allows you to quickly glance at information while doing other things. I know MacOS has widgets, but can they be pinned and overlayed on the desktop? Here is an example below where I have the Spotify widget pinned on the right side. https://ibb.co/60LH2T3p

Problems with files on my Mac - can anyone help?

Hey! I have a MacBook Air 2020 (Sequoia 15.0.1), I synchronise my data with iCloud. Recently a lot of files have been set to hidden (very randomly). At first I was surprised that the files had disappeared. Using a shortcut, I was able to show the files again. But they are still greyed out (the font is grey, not black like the other files). It affects files that are in the cloud, files that are not in the cloud, and all file types. I did not hide these files....

Macbook keeps starting on its own

I have a M1 Macbook Air. Recently I noticed that everytime I open thr mac, its fully drained and dead even though I had charged it before keeping the lid closed. I realised that the laptop is never actually sleeping.(tried changing all the settings to make it sleep after inactivity) Then I noticed that the Screen Time app and battery usage app is constantly on, showing that my laptop is being used when it was was closed. I tried shutting down the laptop and voila it keeps starting back...

Does anyone know if there have been any changes to Mac Mail or MacOS in the last few years, with regard to how it handles the local caching of IMAP email accounts? I have an older Mac from 2021 that was connected to an IMAP email account. The backup for the User / Library / Mail folder on this computer is over 50 GB. 4K external monitor getting to 60Hz

I have a m2 macbook air and a 4k 60Hhz Benq monitor. When connecting a HDMI cable that I have from my Ps5 to the monitor I am doing so through a usb-c hub. Unfortunately I am only getting 30Hz. What is the easiest/cheapest way to get 4k 60Hz? I saw there are Usb-c to Hdmi and Usb-c to display port cables that allow 60Hz. My problem is I also often use a external sandisk SSD and then I would have no free usb c port for charging. Can...

Why does this Thermostat widgets not have temp selection buttons?

Interactive my ass. Where are the buttons to select temperature? All Apple has to do is add 2 selectors on this widgets to adjust temperature. And the thermostat in the homekit app is beyond ugly.

Clearing Systems Data?

“show on Mac” vs “allow notifications from iphone”

Is there a difference in the "show on Mac" toggle within the iPhone notifications and the "allow notifications from iPhone" toggle on macOS? Only thing I saw was that allow notifications from iPhone was more of an "overall" control to enable or disable all notifications from your phone onto your Mac. But does one setting override the other? Because I can toggle one app ON within my iPhone settings and it will show as OFF on my MacBook. Or do I have to go through all apps twice and...

Are old Mac hard drives encrypted?

Im trying to access the hard drive of an old IMac (I think from around 2008) for data recovery and was wondering if I could just take it out of the iMac, connect it to my windows pc and read its contents with an installed Mac file explorer. If not can I decrypt it without turning on the IMac? It doesn’t like to stay on for long enough to do a lot.
