Curious about Hinduism's claim on morality vis à vis religion While reading a book titled "Moral Literacy, Or, How to Do the Right Thing" by Colin McGinn, I came across this series of statements: "A less abstract preliminary question concerns morality and religion. Although I won't be appealing to divine revelation or command in this book, I don't intend my conclusions to be anti-religious. Rather, I mean to be neutral on religious questions, in the sense that both theists and atheists will be addressed. But I should state what I take the relation between morality and religion to be.... 17 0 replies

A Sharp Thought Provoking Poem by me on today's hinduism This is a highly sharp powerful critique of superficial religiosity, hypocrisy, and the surface level performative aspects of faith without any actual self reading that has become our standard in society. This is written with 0 intention to offend any other sampradaya - it's written by me with a vaishnav mindset though I am a smarta. It may seem offensive to some Please let me know what do you think about it : Reader Descretion regarding societal triggers are advised. ।0। पूरी हुई प्राण प्रतिष्ठा , अनिवार्य & आलौकिक... 4 0 replies
Bhagbat Gita and Freewill, Determinism I was wondering if Krishna is all-knower, then he knew about the future that Arjuna will lift his bow after hearing to him and he will fight. So, in Gita, Krishna says that you can choose to fight and be my weapon and achieve greatness by following your dharma or you can labeled as a coward for whole of your life.If Krishna is God, that means he is all-knower, he knows about the future, that means he knows that Arjuna will choose the path of warrior. So, does it... 3 0 replies

Did Hindu scriptures srutis and smritis discuss over the shape of Earth and heliocentricsm? I am aware about ancient Indian Astronomers , who discovered about earth being round and did several calculations regarding it, but what do our religious scriptures say about earth??, is Earth viewed as flat? or is it viewed spherical? in religious scriptures. This is important since both the shape of earth and heliocentricsm are two very clear facts, given our scriptures talk about cosmos at great lengths compared to any other religions, these two facts should be consistent with religion. 4 0 replies

A Small "Nibandhana" for the Modern Era From some exposure to the Smritis, I decide to make a Nibandhana that recontextualises the ancient ideals with modern values. It is a draft, but here is what I have regarding the relationship between husband and wife. The best part is I wrote in Sanskrit!

Prophecies I have noticed some interesting prophecies from Christianity and especially from Islam. They are sometimes quite spesific and while the preachers often exaggerate them a bit, some of them are indeed quite impressive. I was wondering if Hinduism has something similar? I am not talking about some very vague things like "sexual immorality will increase" or something that may have happened already at the time of the writing and retrospectively written as a prophecy (many of the Christian prophecies are like this). So interesting prophecies that came true that... 4 2 replies
How to learn about Vedanta and the Yogic tradition? Im fairly new to the topic of Hinduism and would like to dive deeper into this vast tradition. More specifically, as I mentioned above, Vedanta and the Yogic tradition interest me. Where exactly should I start to learn deeper? (Perhaps maybe the Vedas/Upanishads? Has anyone had any experiences with Nepa Rudraksha? The reason I'm asking this is because I want to purchase a rudraksha mala from Nepa Rudraksha, who seem to sell authentic rudrakshas and also featured on BeerBiceps YT channel. I'm 29M so I'm looking for a panchamukhi 108 bead mala that can be worn around the neck but when looking at their website, they mostly have japa malas. I spoke to the company over WhatsApp, and they said they have a 108 bead japa mala that can be worn around the neck but looking online apparently japa malas... 3 2 replies
If you believe in evolution, you have to reject Kalpabedha When I mean evolution, I mean that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, and that humans evolved from single celled organisms. You also have to believe in continental drift. If you believe all this, and I do, this is in conflict with the Puranic conception of the Kalpas For example, Vaivasvata Manu lived roughly 27 yugas ago, and if you do the math that is roughly 120 million years ago. Humans did no exist, our ancestor was a small mammal walking amongst dinosaurs. That would make it impossible... 4 15 replies
