Here is why Syamantak Mani could be the epitome of scifi material I was browsing through the legendary gemstone call [Syamantak Mani](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syamantaka) (स्यमन्तक) which is describe to be bestowed by Sun God himself. It is described as : \> *Since there are about 3,700 grains of rice in an ounce, the Syamantaka jewel was producing approximately 170 pounds (77 kg) of gold every day. It was also the source of the brilliant appearance of the sun god.* So I had [quick calculation with ChatGPT ](https://chatgpt.com/share/67a384a5-7e10-800d-8df8-cdd35b079104)about how much energy would be required to generate 77 Kg of gold per day and how could Sun... 4 1 replies
Flowers for Lord Shiva Are red flowers okay to offer to Lord Shiva? My priest made me place a red flower at the feet of the Shiva statue at the temple and I asked him if he was sure because I had read that it was not okay. He said it was fine, but there are lots of articles online saying it's not okay. Thank you. If it's not okay, can you explain why and what I can do to rectify what I did? 2 0 replies
Why are the Gods viewed as beardless? I am aware that Śiva is sometimes depicted within artwork possessing facial hair and Brahmā predominantly depicted as bearded, showing his age, and Kṛṣṇa clean-shaven representing youth. My question is about all of the Gods altogether. Is it symbolic, traditional, or an artistic choice, if not all of the above? 2 0 replies

Question on Manu and Yugas 1. So I think we know that the idea that man and chimps have a common ancestor is a well established **fact**, there's no questioning that, but then what about Manu(Svayambhuva)? If he's a mind-born son of Brahma and gave rise to the whole of humanity, then isn't that just the same concept as adam-eve? Could he be a progenitor in the sense of carrying the ability of jivas to evolve into humans as a species? 2. We know that Ramayan happened about 18 million years ago (24th Mahayug,... 3 2 replies

Can desires hinder our relationship with God? To build a beautiful relationship with God, we must desire God. We must have such deep love and longing for God, that ultimately we realize God, we become one with God. As long as we have desires for this material world, we are creating a shadow over the reality of God. If we want to overcome the desires of the material world, if we want to realize God, we must start with what is called self-realization. When we discover we are not the body, mind, ego, we are the... 1 1 replies
Kashi is so polluted, it's absolutely insane. The oldest and most important city of our civilization is Kashi, yet it is highly polluted. The ghats are littered with garbage, and drainage pipelines are directly connected to the Ganga. The entire city is filled with waste, while foreigners take pictures of it. I was extremely disappointed by the whole experience back in november when i went to kashi. I'm not comparing, but if you visit a place like Shirdi, it is a hundred times cleaner than Kashi, which is simply absurd and pathetic. 5 9 replies

Need some advice on spinal breathing/meditation Not sure if this is the best subreddit to ask this, but I’ll go ahead anyways. (I recently started looking into Hinduism/Yoga.)Whenever I do spinal breathing I always feel the sensation of energy(or Prana I assume) going up the spine, but it stops halfway instead of reaching my head. From what I’ve gathered, it’s supposed to the reach the third eye chakra. Could it be I have some sort of “blockage” that prevents the energy from flowing up? 5 2 replies
