What is the significance of the names "Rama" and "Krishna" (and also the original names of Draupadi and Vyasa) that literally mean "(pleasantly) dark" in Hindu epics? Does this also mean that ancient India did not have an obsession with light skin and may have associated dark skin with beauty?

    Does this mean anything?

I had a dream last night that I had gone to a mandir and as soon as I saw the murti’s of Shri Krishna and Mahadev, I started bawling my eyes out. It was so beautiful and it was more like happy tears. Shri Krishna was standing there bright with his flute in his hand and there were two Shivling’s. One was dark dark blue and other one was brownish looking. Does this have any meaning? Actually I was thinking before sleeping how I want to meet bhagwan in...

Hi everyone, 1st/2nd gen indian american looking to learn about Hinduism!

Hi everyone, I know you guys have probably seen tons of posts about this before. My parents are from Chennai and they moved to the US when I was young, but there wasn’t a large Indian population in my area so I wasn’t able to learn about the culture and the religion. I’ve been going through a tough time lately and have been wanting to feel more at peace. I know I’m more interested in the spirituality aspects, more so than the Gods themselves, but I was wondering if...
