The harrasment indigenous Sylhetis of Barak valley face in mainstream Assam is disgusting and disappointing I am writing this to express how disgusting the harrasment Sylhetis of Barak valley face everyday despite being the first inhabitants of the region. Sylhetis first had their own kingdom at 6th century. The kingdom was called as the "Harikela kingdom". The region was called Srihatta or Shilhatta through which the modern name "Sylhet" derives from. This piece of information is however intentionally hidden by the state of Assam. Assamese chauvinists intentionally, not only deny the history, culture, social fabric, heritage, politics of the Sylhetis living there but also... 4 19 replies

Almost got scammed in guwahati So today I was walking back to my pg and got approached by a dude holding helmet near the Bhangagarh flyover. He appeared to be around late teens to early 20s and had a very clear and almost charming way of speaking. He approached me talking in Hindi, he asked "excuse me, app yaha se ho kya" to which I replied that I'm not(which I realise is probably a dumb thing to do). He followed up with "aap meri ek help kar sakte ho kya". This immediately raised red... 2 3 replies
Residents harassing association members in my society In my luxury society couple of residents with vested interest have been harassing the board since sometime now. With false accusations, constant threats of police complain and general nuisance in social media. We got this association after much difficulty after nobody volunteered. Now I feel very sad for the association members for facing such constant mud slinging. Now these guys have even floated a google form asking for a GBM ([https://forms.gle/bPqyGf7tct6Pmv7B9](https://forms.gle/bPqyGf7tct6Pmv7B9)). How should regular, peace loving residents like us handle these nuisance makers? Please help! 1 2 replies
Is Goalpariya a part of the Assamese language? I often had this question whether Goalpariya (spoken in Goalpara-Dhubri region) is considered to be dialect of Assamese or Bengali. Here's a sentence for more clarification: English: A man had two sons. Assamese: Manuh ejonor duta putak asil. Goalpariya: Kuno ekzon mansir duizon sawa asil. I could find the eastern Goalpariya but western goalpariya is similar to some extend. Share your thoughts and opinions 4 5 replies
