Information for Train Travel from Coimbatore to Thrissur

Hi makkale, I've a small doubt and need some clarification. I've been away from TN for about last 10 yrs. I want to travel from Coimbatore to Thrissur on a day train,as in general ticket. How is the train journey these days. I've heard it is unpleasant for even reserved ticket holders, in certain routes within TN or in between TN and Kerala. We are going to our native Karaikudi from Bengaluru for Pongal. Our grandma has been staying with us since Chaturthi 2024 for her diabetes treatment.
