Friendly Streaming Browser: 'Playback' menu items are greyed out I've downloaded [Friendly Streaming Browser](https://apps.apple.com/au/app/friendly-streaming-browser/id553245401?mt=12) from the App Store, but have not yet paid for 'Streaming Plus'. All of the items in the 'Playback' menu (Jump Forward/Backward and Increase/Decrease Speed etc) are greyed out. Is this a bug, or a feature that is only enabled on paying for the Streaming Plus option? I've emailed the publisher a couple of times, but they have not responded. 2 1 replies
“BackService” Not Opened Hi I just used the migration assistant to transfer to my new Macbook and now this pop up wont go away. It says: **“BackService” Not Opened** Apple could not verify “BackService” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. **Even if i move to trash it keeps popping up. I ran Malwarebyte scan and nothing came up. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?** 4 0 replies
Photos thinks already imported photos from iphone are new So last year I bought an iphone 15 pro, used my Mac to backup the old phone and restored everything to the new phone so it’s set up exactly the same way. Which means all the photos from my old phone are transferred to the new phone. I also used the Photos app to import my photos from my old phone and store them on an external hard drive. Now when I plug in my new phone, the Photos app does not recognize that those same photos were already... 2 0 replies
Window snapping app that shows content before mouse button released (instead of frame only) Some weeks ago I saw a window-snapping video, moving a window "in circles", **instantly snapping every border** it touches. I thought was from native Sequoia snapping and wondered how it was much more fluent than on my up to date system. I could swear it **shows the content of the windows**, maybe it´s just sped up or tricking with hotkeys, but the mouse movement was there as far as I remember. *I am very disappointed because (Sequoia) side snapping behaviour interferes unusable with switching spaces, with the hold before... 2 0 replies
Recording streams I often listen to different radio stations 📻 around the world 🌍 and would like to be able to record the streams and save them for later use. What app can do this for me❓ I have a plugin for Google Chrome but I’d rather use safari. Or a regular app. Any suggestions? 5 1 replies
Anyone moved from Onedrive to iCloud for file storage ? Pros / Cons ? I kept all of my files on Onedrive for ages. Not just backup, but actual working documents. Now that I have a MacBook, I was curious if switching to iCloud would have any benefits. Onedrive seems to have two big advantages - file version history and having clients for practically any OS. One disadvantage is that it's a bit of a battery hog on Mac, although not terrible. Any advantages to using iCloud ? 5 10 replies
Do you really need App Cleaner or CleanMyMac to delete all files of an app off of a Mac? Do you use one of these app cleaner apps or do you just drag the app to the trash icon on your dock? Do I really need one of these apps to truly delete an app off of my machine? 5 10 replies
What do you do to keep your macOS minimalistic? I've used Mac since OS X Tiger which was released 2005. The older I get, the more minimal I want my system to be. Fewer 3rd party apps, fewer menu bar icons, fewer animations, single-color wallpaper, and so on. And no, I don't want to sit in a minimal terminal on linux lol. I just think that less is more. I also think that the more random apps I install, the higher is the total security risk. So please describe / show your macOS setup :-) How do you... 4 10 replies
Apple Firewall, turn on or not? What security threats does it defend against in 2025? iMac M4, so it's not gonna be in coffee places and so on. It's just gonna sit at home, connected through ethernet or wifi to my own router. Is there any reason to turn on the build-in firewall? Or is it just something we used 10-20 years ago when the system was less safe, and now it's just a left-over? Because it's turned off by default, and since Apple seems to take security very seriously, and so the fact that the firewall is turned off by default makes me... 2 10 replies

Charging using a 20W charging block. So just recently the charging block that came with my Macbook air 2020 got completely fried and doesn’t work anymore. I don’t know exactly what happened. I have a different charger that i use to charge my iphone which is the Anker 511 nanopro. It says that it’s a 20W charger while the original apple brick is 30W. I wanted to ask if using this charging block would be sufficient to charging my macbook air? would it affect the battery negatively? I use the laptop mostly for studying (reading... 2 1 replies

Help with quick action "convert to pdf" in Finder Hey so I'm trying to convert a group of jpgs into a single PDF using the finder quick action, and it works generally fine, but it seems to auto compress the file by a decent amount(roughly by about a 1/3). Is there a way to turn this off for the quick action? As far as I can see, the only option i have in settings is to enable the quick action or not in settings, not more specific options. I saw a recommendation to convert a group of jpgs... 4 0 replies
I'm trying to install Macos 11 big sur. Hello everyone, I have a Macbook Pro 2012 model. It had macos 10 catalina installed in it. I just received this computer and I have never used a Mac before. I walked around in it for a while, but it was very old. Even the simplest spotify wouldn't let me install it. So I decided to upgrade. I talked to a friend. It told me to install ubuntu. He said it would get better. Technically my friend was right, but the computer started to overheat. I am not satisfied... 2 2 replies
Read Only flag set on boot I'm having a bit of an issue - I have an external drive that will always mount as RO when my mac is rebooted. When I do a diskutil info on the volume it shows - Volume Read-Only: Yes (read-only mount flag set) How do I reset the read-only flag so it can be written to and it remembers that setting when reboot. I'm running 15.1.1. The only posts I can find at the moment are about either re-formatting the drive, not an option currently,... 1 0 replies
