New but not si much to Hinduism Hello there, I'm fairly new to Hinduism and I have to say that Yogi's Shivananda books are amazing ! I read "Bhakti Yoga" and "how to conquer virtues and eradicate vices", he's very nice and straight into the matter. Also, I appreciate Shri Satya Sai Baba teachings. As coming from a non - Hindu environment, they are perfect for people like me. 6 3 replies
Could Brahma be the Abrahamic God? A Cosmic Rebranding to Secure Worship? I had this wild thought today that seems both absurd and fascinating in equal measure. What if the Abrahamic God is actually Brahma from Hinduism, just on a cosmic power trip? Hear me out: In Hinduism, Brahma is the creator god, but no one really worships him. He did his job -- created the universe -- and now, he’s basically irrelevant. Everyone's praying to Vishnu (the protector) and Shiva (the destroyer), leaving Brahma out in the cold like a forgotten one who did all the hard work and now... 3 4 replies

How is vaikuntha different from SwargLoka I am assuming since swarglok is still part of the rebirth cycle, it's were the souls go to get fruits of their punya and satisfy their materialistic desires. But lot of vaishnava sects consider moksha(liberation from rebirth cycle) as souls reaching vaikuntha. So what really do souls do there? I am assuming there is no lust or any materialistic desires that are satisfied in vaikuntha, since reaching their is considered moksha that is liberation from such desires. I am not of the intention to offend any of my fellow... 1 0 replies

I am not the doer, so am I self realised I now know that I, the person is just the play of nature, me, the spirit is just the witness, experiencing the nature playing with itself. Is this what they call self realisation or is it something else. Mind feels like a 6th sense, which feeds me thoughts like ear feeds me sound. All beings have the same self within. If this is not self realisation then what it? I know that I have found something profound but I am confused with labels, is this self realisation, enlightenment or... 5 1 replies
Perfect harmony between the extremes of Duality!!!!! [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WLHM1c83Cpc](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WLHM1c83Cpc) Bhagvad Gita Chapter 6 Verse 16 My understanding of this: The Bhagavad Gita emphasizes that a yogi must avoid extremes in all aspects of life, whether in eating, sleeping, working, or resting. Luxury and austerity are two ends of a spectrum, and neither leads to true peace or self-realization. Overindulgence or deprivation of any kind creates conflict between the mind and body, hindering spiritual growth. Proper food, adequate rest, balanced activity, and a joyful mind are essential for success in yoga. The Gita reminds us that harmony is... 3 0 replies
Do the Aghori get permission from the family of the dead before they eat them? And what implication does that imply if they lack consent? I’m a recent white convert to Kaula Shaktism and I’m fascinated by this aspect of Tantrism. The Aghori. Very similar to the philosopher Diogenes the Cynic. Very much the ideal of Friedrich Nietzsche in pursuing one’s will to power. 5 1 replies
Why is karma fair if we don’t remember past lives? Suffering is often used to question God’s existence—if God loves creation, why does suffering exist? While Abrahamic religions struggle with a concrete answer, Hinduism explains it as karma. But how is it fair to be held accountable for past-life actions we don’t even remember? Isn’t that immoral? How can this be explained or rebutted? 3 1 replies
Recent trends that worry me There is something that worries me. These days I am seeing Content creators/Influencers/Godmen/Pravachankartas, propagating, for a lack of a better word, a type of thinking about Hinduism which makes it seems to be very rigid and fixed. Everything is rooted back to the scriptures. I am not denying the prāmanika of the scriptures but I am speaking culturally there is a movement underway to "homogenize" Hinduism. Anyone who tries to make a point regarding a custom or a general fact about Hinduism, is shut down saying that the scriptures... 4 0 replies

Why is the manu smriti so controversial? I don’t understand why the manusmriti is so controversial ? Is it truly that corrupted? Just a few people say it is corrupted with out proper reasoning and or proof doesn’t mean it true? I just want the evidence and truth behind the claims it has been corrupted. You don’t need to be nice in this post if you are being honest and backing up your statement. 4 10 replies
How to begin worshipping Ganesha? I have for a long time, on and off worshipped Krishna and did japa of his name. I've felt pulled towards Ganesha though, and I have a statue of Him. How can I properly worship him? What mantras can I chant? What books should I read? I am a white American (though through some Romani ancestors, I do have ancestors from India). 3 1 replies
