Navigating religion as an 18yo in india. So 18(F) here, I’ve grown up in a mildly religious home (mother is more into it than father). i believed in religion when i was young but when i was 8 i was very scared of ghosts, i would always have trouble sleeping at night, so one day im talking to my father about it and he says ghosts aren’t real then i said if good exists then so does bad, so if god exists then probably ghosts exist as well.. then he looked at me and said who... 4 0 replies

Let’s criticise the govt on the basis of the factors that actually affects our lives. Fight against the injustice together. Keep a work life balance and be efficient with it.... 2 12 replies
What are your opinions on open ended movies? Just watched No Smoking—got me thinking about abstract films that leave you to make sense of what you just saw. Most mainstream films—whether Hollywood or Indian cinema—tend to spell everything out with all the subtlety of a bull in a china shop. And I get it—movies are often about escapism, and not everyone wants to watch rewatch a movie to understand it. But I have huge respect for directors who trust their audience enough to let them connect the dots on their own. I’m not saying that a movie... 2 6 replies

Is it possible to live as a friend with a girl whom you like? I like her but I never told her because she already has boyfriend. It was big mistake from my part that I kept talking with her and now she considers me a very good friend and I am irreplaceable part of her life, as per her. If I think about myself, I am feeling like a sucker who can't move on. I still wait for her replies even though I know, she will never ever be mine. I tried avoiding her for few days and she messaged me so... 4 11 replies
for Indian Redditors who can cook : what was that one dish you f*cked up gorgeously while cooking but you smile everytime that incident occurs in your mind? One day I tried making bhindi ki bhujiya. That's plain and simple and I was somewhat a person that you can say knows how to cook by then. So I am cutting bhindi but forgot to wash those. And I thought whatever, I can wash after I'm done cutting and I did exactly that 😹. The moment I put that in karaahi to cook too many bubbles formed and extra water from wash made it look like bhindi but in mushroom soup. Even then I thought I can turn... 5 18 replies
Why do we Indians not realize that by treating dark-skinned people as ugly and inferior, and light-skinned people as beautiful, we are keeping ourselves inferior to the world, even in our own minds? We Indians mostly have dark brown to wheatish skin tones, and we live in a hot environment. It's absolutely fine to be dark. Our skin pigmentation is a natural protection against skin cancer, nothing more, period. But if you make fun of a dark-skinned person in India (which makes up 50-60% of the population), you're essentially mocking yourself. By doing so, you're indirectly suggesting that people from the Middle East, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Northern Africa, Central Asia, Europe, South America, North America, New Zealand, and other regions have... 5 25 replies

How to cope with girls listing out their list of relationships as they could always chose from the list of guys whereas I've mostly never dated? All my life I've got traumas and depression and low self esteem and sadness and bullying and suicidal thoughts and being the scapegoat from everyone, majorly from my family. Now girls see me as a turn off because I had no relationships associated me as unwanted rather than unlucky. This makes me more sad and they don't want sad guys. It's a loop and i can't be myself to get into a relationship. I've no one to choose as an average guy doesn't get approached. 2 9 replies
How to be a Good Samaritan >This incident happened some time back in Bengaluru: I see a intoxicated guy laying on the side of the road (I do not know who he is, he was shivering very hard though). I pass by on the same road again after few minutes, he is still there but this time I notice some blood near his head and hands. So, I call 112 and they send two police officers. They told me that since I called, I have to accompany this person to the hospital on an ambulance.... 2 7 replies

Are Indians aware that their kids will suffer in this highly competitive country? I mean, in this country, everything is a competition—from education to jobs, literally everything. We've already suffered enough, right? Yet, people still have kids, making them go through the same struggles—staying up late for exams, dealing with blood-sucking jobs with minimal salary. Even though we know how tough it is, we still choose to have kids. It's almost like taking revenge by bringing them into this competitive world. 4 0 replies
How’s your WFH going? Still enjoying it? I’m a developer with a permanent WFH, and while it sounds good, it’s honestly killing me. The main issue? Very, very low socializing. My weekdays are basically: ☑️ Wake up, sit in my isolated room ☑️ Work whole day ☑️ After work, call friends + walking + mobile browsing ☑️ Repeat. The only time I actually go out is on weekends—to explore places, meet friends, or go on dates sometimes. But Monday-Friday? Absolute boring. The problem is, my company is really good, so I can’t even think of leaving.... 4 5 replies
Do you guys get annoyed when relatives/family-friends show up at your home unannounced? Being born into a nuclear family, I really find it annoying when relatives regardless of how close they are to my family. Couldn't they just text 30mins prior so that we could be more presentable!? When you expect all kinds of formalities visiting someone's home, shouldn't you have the basic decency to ask if we're welcome or not,at least let them know of one's arrival? I feel like these people lack decency. What's your take on this? 1 22 replies

What is the allure of being/having a Trophy wife ? My wives parents have been looking for a bride for my BIL through AM setup. They have been trying for over a year but nothing clicked so far, so they are kind of getting desperate as BIL is about to cross 30.
