Do men really need to "provide" anymore, or is that an outdated idea? For most of history, men were expected to be the primary providers (bringing in resources, protecting their families, and making sure everyone was taken care of). But in 2025, does that role still make sense? Women are out-earning men in some places, traditional gender roles are shifting, and a lot of people argue that relationships should be equal partnerships. At the same time, many women still say they want a man who is "ambitious" and financially stable, and some guys feel like they’re not respected unless they’re the breadwinner.... 4 30 replies

single child, how to be happy? 25M here. I do have a job(decent pay) but apart from that I spend time alone most of the time. Mom keeps watching YouTube all day. Dad is retired, utilizes his time as secretary for apartment I live in. Both 60+. Also I've noticed mom/dad doesn't enjoy spending time with me or with each other's relatives. recently bought my mom a new phone because she was facing issues with older one, and she didn't even use the new one, it's in the box, and she keeps using old one.... 2 24 replies

Is the Indian middle class apathetic towards the issues of the poor? I have been noticing since some time that the Indian middle class barely shows any outrage for the issues of the poor. Most of the cases which grew into social media movements had victims belonging to the middle class. I recently learnt that more than 50,000 people in India lose their life due to snakebite, but nobody talks about it maybe cuz the victims are primarily poor rural people. We scorn at them for being uncivic, but don't empathise with the underlying reasons . 5 23 replies
Why do Indian parents have the same high expectations but not provide the same quality of life? How do they have high expectations for their kids but don’t provide the same quality of life? A daily wage laborer wants his son to be an IITian, and a teacher wants his daughter to be an IITian. It’s like investing a small amount but expecting high profits. How is that possible? 3 18 replies
Why Prenups Should Be a Thing in India Marriage in India is often seen as a sacred bond, but let’s be real—it’s also a financial and legal partnership. And when things fall apart, the fallout can be messy, expensive, and emotionally exhausting. That’s why prenups should be normalized here too. They don’t predict divorce; they just ensure fairness, protect individual assets, and prevent years of legal battles. Yet, Indian laws refuse to recognize them, clinging to the outdated belief that they undermine marriage. But think about it—we sign contracts for jobs, businesses, even Netflix subscriptions, yet the... 0 13 replies
Is it just me that I resonate more to Indian right wing but absolutely despise the American right wing? I've noticed that I kind of resonate with the Indian right wing to some extent, but I absolutely cannot stand the American right wing—because, honestly, it feels like it has some of the most brain-dead takes out there. (Leave alone the religious takes from alt right wing of both the countries). At the same time, I find myself supporting the American left (but not the alt-left). Is anyone else in a similar position? Or do you think there are fundamental differences that make this stance contradictory? 2 37 replies

Why is there so much self-hate on Indian subreddits? Hey everyone, I'm from Norway and have been living in India for almost a year now. I absolutely love it here. The country is so alive, full of energy, and progressing at an insane pace. But what I admire the most is how India has managed to keep its incredibly ancient culture alive while modernizing at the same time. There are, of course, things that need improvement—just like in my own country—but overall, India is an amazing place with a deep sense of history and identity. That’s why I’m... 2 0 replies
