I think 50% for needs are fair, wants is what I have the most control on, rarely do I spend on wants as I don't have many (Using the same phone for 4 years and getting a second hand car instead of a new one). So my savings are actually 40% of the pie.

At my age (late 20s), I think since the wants can be moved to savings easily. Though, to each their own.
