Why is depression so prevalent in Sikkim?

So to say, I am speaking out of my own experience resulting from the interactions I have had with other localites of Sikkim. I am a local myself, and depression, anxiety and mood disorders seem to be extremely common among my friends, relatives, colleagues. Does the weather have anything to do with it? It is so cold and morose all the time that it literally demotivates us from effective action. Or is it the political scenario that cripples? I have also witnessed several unhappy marriages, extra-marital affairs, dysfunctional families....

How autonomous was Sikkim before 1975 as a protectorate? Did Sikkim have it's own currency? Was it a member of the UN?

Hey! I'm from the South, and I take interest in Indian history. I heard the story of the integration of Sikkim into India in an explainer video and I read articles about it too. These questions were left unanswered to me and I couldn't find any answers in articles on the subject. I hope some of you here can chip in!

Idk What to Do Next—Feeling Lost

I’m from Gangtok and did pretty well academically till class 12—topped in school, won tons of national and international quizzes, debates, and robotics competitions. During the lockdown, I founded an edtech startup that was doing great, but I had to shut it down due to other commitments. After class 12th , got a fully funded scholarship by the Korean Government to study AI & Big Data (thanks to great co curriculars and academics) at a prestigious university in South Korea. Over the years, I’ve been part of some amazing...

Is it a common practice to keep children as house help in Lachen?

I had visited lachen the day before yesterday on my way. We were halting there, and the hotel where we were staying was owned by this couple who has kept a little boy as a house help. He must be around 8 or 9 years old. When we reached, he was waiting there to pick our bags. I told him that we will do that on our own. But they were making him pickup firewood and all. I thought he must be adopted, as the kid was from a...

Has Anyone Tried Sip Leaf’s Blue Tea? Need Honest Reviews.

So, I saw a post on Ole Sikkim yesterday and came across Sip Leaf Blue Tea. They’re running this Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer, and I’m kinda tempted to give it a shot. They claim it helps with weight loss and even improves sleep quality both of which I’ve been struggling with lately. But before I jump in, I’d love to hear from anyone who’s already tried it: 1. Did it actually help with weight loss or sleep? 2. Is it worth grabbing the offer, or should I...

Is this true? The air quality is pretty bad in Gangtok. I thought the air quality was below moderate here, or I was just unaware. But what are these? Is it some kind of exaggeration, because it seems unbelievable?

    Good resources to learn Lepcha

I'm Lepcha (on my dad's side), but grew up in Patna. My dad's village is south of Yumthang, close to Lachung. I still follow a lot of Sikkimese culture obviously, and visit my relatives often - but I'm ashamed of not being able to speak to them, as fluently I'd like.

While applying for a US/UK/Schengen Visa, what do you provide instead of Income Tax Returns?

Recently one of my friend's visa got rejected probably because he could not provide Income tax return. He is from Nagaland and applied for a Schengen visa at Spanish embassy. Since Sikkim is an Income Tax exempt state, what documents do you provide instead and how do you clarify that why aren't you able to provide Income tax returns ? Also have you faced any issue due to this while applying for a visa ?
