I'm fairly new to SEO and if I'm being honest, I don't like it. If I'm being even more honest, I hate it. I understand that it's not a precise science and there's a lot of nuances and in the end, it all depends on the algorithm, but I've spent a big portion of the last 2 years improving (or at least trying to, darn it) our on and off-page SEO, the technical SEO and all the other sh*t I've read in countless blogs and watched in endless videos....

Spoke to a digital marketing inf company

They want to charge me $600 a month to write 2 blogs and to keep adding backlinks. They told me this $600 is for regular “maintenance” of said backlinks and blogs. Seems really steep and excessive. Was also told that if I stopped I would fall back into the Google SEO void. Wouldn’t the backlinks still be there? Is this maintenance some sort of scam?

Increasing keywords, decreasing traffic??

Site got Hacked with Massive Spam - Should I redirect URLs to Homepage or keep 404 Errors

My site got hacked on 18th Feb (Hosting was compromised), Hacker uploaded shitload of spam pages and gained access to Search console by uploading HTML file to verify ownership. I restored an earlier backup of hosting & WP backup as well (It is clean). Sitemap for sitemaps in SEO. Is this a thing?

Hey guys, As the title says, The client has a sitemap for multiple other legitimate sitemaps within their subdomain. I've never seen this before and I can't imagine this ever being needed. I couldn't imagine needing a crawled sitemap containing existing URLs. It feels like some chain. But my question is if its worth removing. I'm trying to allocate resources effectively without removing stuff that do not harm SEO or positive, etc.

Remove loading bar when switching languages

Recently we've had someone SEO audit our website, and one of the remarks he had was that we should remove the loading bar when switching languages. I'm not sure if this is something we should do, as it can just lead to frustration if it takes longer than a few seconds and it seems the site is unresponsive

I've taken over a client site who have interactive catalogues which regularly get changed. These catalogues are self-contained html files with hospot images all hosted on a subdomain. Software to track rankings - any free or cheap options?

Hi everyone - I'm looking for free or at least cheap SEO software that can track seo rankings. I've been using the Link Assistant suite for a while however found it quite buggy and expensive so wish to find another option. Screaming frog seems to the most suggested free/low cost seo tool on this sub but it doesn't track keywords so seeing what else is out there. Thanks so much!

Traffic From Google 5x less than Bing?

I sort of abandoned my website after it got hit hard by the helpful content update. I didnt make much effort to change things. I just stopped posting and its been pretty much dead for the last year. I was getting around 250k visitors per month and it went to about 10k and then around 2.5k as the helpful content update was rolling out.
