Site got Hacked with Massive Spam - Should I redirect URLs to Homepage or keep 404 Errors
My site got hacked on 18th Feb (Hosting was compromised), Hacker uploaded shitload of spam pages and gained access to Search console by uploading HTML file to verify ownership. I restored an earlier backup of hosting & WP backup as well (It is clean). Removed their ownership from GSC as well. **I have around 6k Indexed URLs and 2k Not Indexed URLs for various reasons (only 50 are mine).** **I've removed all the Spam content, Now my question is should I:** 1. Keep as it is and deal with lots of 404 errors in Search console and wait for Google to clean up. 2. Redirect all 404 Error pages to Homepage and then wait for Google to clean up. **Is 301 redirects from spammed pages going to affect the site badly to the point where I can't index any new pages?** Edit: URLs don't have pattern so I can't manually remove them or use script/tool to do so 1 by 1 because it will take too much time.3
