Thousands of Pink Chaddis Does anyone still remember this? Around 2010, thousands of pink chaddis were sent by women all over India to some political fanatics who were threatening to forcefully put mangalsutras on unmarried women seen with men on Valentine’s Day. It was a non-violent protest and the message was crystal clear- We're tired of ya'll fu\*king with our lives. The mainstream media HAD to cover it, and the politicians who made that statement actually asked for protective custody because they were terrified of receiving an avalanche of pink chaddis at their... 1 16 replies

BMC Office(L Ward) lack of cooperation I'm struggling to get the birth certificate of my kid from BMC L-ward. My Wife didn't change her name post marriage and the papers sent from hospital to BMC had only her first name captured. Now the BMC officials are making my life difficult to provide a new supporting document on every visit. The officer looking into this is almost always unavailable Can someone guide me through on how I can escalate this, and get the work done. Whom should I write a complaint for this? 2 5 replies

Rental guidance Hey all, needed your opinion on this. My mother passed away unfortunately couple years ago. We have a house that is only on her name. Now this house is on rent and the current tenants wish to leave. So to get new tenants, how should we approach with my mother’s name on the house. It’s just my brother, my dad and me left now. Thanks for reading. 4 1 replies

Thinking of taking a flat on rent in Ulwe as I’m sick of how fucked up the living situation in Mumbai is. Is it a good idea? I live in Andheri and have to commute to Fort daily. I chose this place because the rent in this building was relatively cheap and because the landlord didn’t give a fuck when I was living here with my girlfriend. But now we’re married and our quality of life has drastically dropped. Last monsoon, we had severe seepage and mold issues. There’s no lift in the building and the building and its surroundings have gotten progressively worse (see all the jokes, memes and stories of BMC looking for buried... 1 13 replies

Why is Maharashtra the only Indian state with two Tier 1 cities (Mumbai and Pune)? Hey everyone, I've been wondering why Maharashtra is the only state in India with two cities (Mumbai and Pune) designated as Tier 1. What factors contributed to this? Is it purely economic, or are there historical, political, or geographical reasons as well? I'd love to hear some insights from those who know more about urban development in India. Thanks! 2 20 replies

How practical is the flat transformation done in the movie 'Wake up Sid' ? https://preview.redd.it/cwahua6hhqje1.png?width=925&format=png&auto=webp&s=262981545a5a9fcdca97d5723f235fbdc16c7c3f Is it a good idea to rent an unfurnished, unkempt flat and furnish it over time? Many people move out after a year or two, so is it worth investing in new or second-hand furniture and décor, especially when sharing expenses with a flatmate? How do you typically handle furnishing and moving when relocating to a new place? Also, do landlords generally allow tenants to paint the walls? 1 6 replies
Appalling state of footpaths This is the state of footpaths in Marol, where I live. Encroached, ugly, filthy as hell. I sprained my back walking on these horrible footpaths. I’ve complained on the BMC website, Twitter (marking relevant ward profile) and now I’m posting here. Enough is enough. I’m not going to rest until this is fixed. Please suggest ways to escalate this to whoever is responsible. FYI Muraji Patel is the elected representative on this ward. 4 20 replies
