Thinking of taking a flat on rent in Ulwe as I’m sick of how fucked up the living situation in Mumbai is. Is it a good idea?
I live in Andheri and have to commute to Fort daily. I chose this place because the rent in this building was relatively cheap and because the landlord didn’t give a fuck when I was living here with my girlfriend. But now we’re married and our quality of life has drastically dropped. Last monsoon, we had severe seepage and mold issues. There’s no lift in the building and the building and its surroundings have gotten progressively worse (see all the jokes, memes and stories of BMC looking for buried treasure in Andheri). I went all the way to Thane (Kolshet road) to look for alternate flats and turns out every single builder and developer has gone crazy with rents. No. I don’t want to give ₹40000 to live in a half-decent flat in a gated community where they have a separate building for parking and it’ll take 15-30 minutes to get to the main gate. How is Ulwe? There’s Uber Shuttle and Cityflo connectivity to where I work from Ulwe. Don’t really know anyone who lives there. We plan on moving to Hyderabad or Bangalore in a couple of years anyway, so no point in thinking of buying a flat here. My budget is ₹35000. What sort of a 2BHK will I get in Ulwe? And is it worth moving there, given that I sometimes need to stay late in office and the return journey will not be so pleasant?1
