New MacMini setup My new Mac Mini should arrive next week. It doesn’t seem realistic to create a second iCloud account but instead use the iCloud account I have now which I’m using with a M2 MacBook. Issue is though I’d rather start fresh and reinstall only the applications I want on the new system, along with the desktop and documents and downloads folders and files I want, not everything which is on iCloud nor from a time machine migration for example. M1 Mac forgotten password I’ve gone through going into recovery mode and terminal to do the “reset password,” once I get to the page that says forgot password, the next page that appears says “there are no users on this volume to recover.” I haven’t been able to find any workarounds on it or just not long in the right place. Can go to Google but accessing sites returns connection error A old couple from the lodge asked me to look at their iMac when plugged into Ethernet I can get it connected to Google or yahoo. And do a search, but if I try to click any of the links it returns it gives me a failed to establish a secure connection error. It definitely needs an update it’s on 10.8.5 but will not connect to the App Store to download the update. 4 0 replies
Time Machine back up to remote disk. Is this possible anymore? Hi, I have an old 2014 Mac Mini that I use as a Plex server and not much else. It is configured to back up via Time Machine to an an attached USB drive. This works as expected. I also have Macbook Pro M2 and a Macbook Air M1, both of which I would like to be able to back up to the same USB drive (the one attached to the Mini) over wifi. I’ve just splurged and purchased a Apple 2024 MacBook Pro Laptop with M4 Pro chip in 16” Wanted something big, powerful, lots of battery, bright display, and I just have a tend to go overboard on everything I do.
