Does meditation/Samadhi in Hinduism has this kind of formulas? I often see that Hindus say Buddha copied meditation from Hinduism. Does Hinduism has these formulas mentioned in Yoga Sutras? I learned this from Buddhist monk Ajahn Sona and he said the formula works instantly if you can arrange these requirements and you can enter a pleasurable meditation state. 7 factors of Awakening:- 1. Mindfulness 2. Investigation 3. Energy/motivation 4. Pleasure (Once motivation stabilises Pleasure comes with command "Pleasure arise") 5. Serenity (At this point the mind is easy to control and just command it to be serene) 6.... 3 1 replies
Regarding why the father encouraged to marry off his daughter before puberty, and how to reform this. Below is from my draft of a blog post I am going to publish. Refer to Baudhayana Dharmasutra 4.1.11-14: >"11. Let him give his daughter, while she still goes naked, to a man who has not broken the vow of chastity and who possesses good qualities, or even to one destitute of good qualities; let him not keep (the maiden) in (his house) after she has reached the age of puberty.[^(\[7\])](https://www.wisdomlib.org/hinduism/book/baudhayana-dharmasutra/d/doc116443.html#note-e-65444) >14. Why is the burden of secularism just on us?? why can't we have a nation of our own?? why don't we deserve a nation of our own?? why it is just us who have to be tolerant and respect other faiths when they are thirsty for our bloods?? there are christian nations, there are islamic nations and there are buddhist nations and also a nation for jews but when we talk about a hindu nation.. we are called extremists and other names.. we deserve a nation for us.. Hindus need a nation... Hindus can't build a temple in saudi or in vatican but we have to give... 3 4 replies
Why did Arjuna share his wife with his brothers? When his mother clearly didn't mean to tell him that? Why didn't Draupadi have a choice? I don't want to offend anyone but I think this was pretty stupid. Mata Kunti definitely didn't mean for him to share his wife obviously you should understand when a person didn't intent on saying this. I don't know what was our book trying to teach us here, and why the hell is there not a choice of Draupadi. "Ma ka baat ko hamesha follow karo", i sincerely disagree, Arjuna is a grown adult and should definitely have used his brain there instead of this old fashioned out dated... 5 9 replies
To what extent does Smriti injunctions regarding worldly motives (Hetudardhana) apply? From what I know, Smriti injunctions that have worldly motives are not authoritative. The word for worldly motive is actually “hetudarshanam” or “view to a reason”. I imagine this is a perceptible reason or a deducible reason? How true is this and to what extent does this apply? 4 0 replies

Increased empathy naam japa My empathy for others has increased a lot since doing lalitha naam japa, just saying Sri mata and ram naam japa. I am starting to feel physically sick when eating meat and I am more empathetic to animals. I actually started to cry when I thought about my dogs traumatic past. An unexpected side effect ..though very cool just wanted to share this with the community 4 1 replies
i feared kali as a child but i think she saved me maa kali is a mother wrath in its strongest, most horrific form. for the longest time i thought i would never ever be able to relate to that suffering, i would never be good enough for kali. but there was something else in my subconscious. i was afraid of my own moms wrath, and i felt it being projected from my mind to the image of kali and i was fearful. but as time grew, i become more afflicted with her. i began to pray to durga because i... 3 0 replies
I don't know how someone can love someone so much (HANUMAN) So I am that kind of person who really doesn't care much about people as much i hate to say it we here might be talking about close ones. Lost and confused. Can anyone help or interact? Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I have always had an attraction towards Hinduism (Maybe even Buddhism or Taoism, but mostly Buddhism) ever since i was a child and i heard of it. Now lately i feel the pull towards something like this even more. Trouble is i have a hard time believing in gods. All my life i struggled with depression and anxiety, also with chronic illness. Despite that i do think that maybe there is some higher being. I don't even know where to start.... 13 0 replies
Why is Sankhya regarded as Āstika rather than Nāstika? Although I knew the Sankhya school agreed with the authority of Veda, its believers and followers thought the original beginning only existed two entities, Purusha( psychical or mental spirit ) and Prakrit. Additionally, they don't believe in personal gods, including Ishvara. Essentially, Sankhya is considered an atheism of Indian philosophy, but even so, it's still classified as orthodox rather than heterodox. I'm a bit confused. Could anyone else elaborate on why it's like this? 13 0 replies
