Is Hiranyakashipu the most powerful villain in Hinduism ? His boon made him nearly invincible and he had conquered all 3 realms in satya yug whose characters should be the strongest. Vishnu had to wait for 1000s of years to kill him at a specific time with his (maybe) strongest avatar. 5 18 replies

Yamaraja the god of death Yama (Sanskrit: यम, lit. 'twin'), also known as Kāla and Dharmarāja, is the Hindu god of death responsible for the dispensation of law and punishment of sinners in his abode, Naraka. He is often identified with Dharmadeva, the personification of Dharma, though the two deities have different origins and myths. In Vedic tradition, Yama was considered the first mortal who died and espied the way to the celestial abodes as a result, he became the ruler of the departed. Is Mahabharata really that morally grey compared to ramayana? There's a common narrative about Hindu epics that ramayana is a very simple story with little ethical dilemmas and meanwhile mahabharata is a lot more complex and I kinda feel it's a gross oversimplification. Characters seemingly getting tied with vows and making desperate choices(sometimes against their own wills) they made generations ago... 4 0 replies
Is there any religious text which says that women cannot attend funerals My grandmother passed away recently and I heard from my mother that some members of the family were unhappy about the fact that the daughters lit the pyre (as was her and my grandfather’s wish), and that at the ceremony it was all men apart from the daughters. Is this a societal thing or a practice with basis in Hindu teachings? 4 0 replies
Why didn't Krishna ji stop the mahabharat war? I mean no offense to anyone but today one of my friends who claims to be an atheist asked me that if Krishna ji is a god why did he let so many people die when he had all the powers to stop it and settle the dispute. I was left quite answerless at the moment and so I want to hear your all's opinion on it 4 0 replies
