How to Legally Protect My Mother from an Abusive Father Hi everyone, I’m reaching out here because I’m in a desperate situation and need advice. My father has been mentally and physically abusive towards my mother for over 25 years. She tried leaving him once, but he threatened to harm her family, and she returned out of fear. Recently, he came to my place in Bangalore, and after a huge fight, I threw him out and told him never to come back. My mother is now living with me, but when she went back to Mumbai briefly for some... 3 0 replies
First-Time Landlord: Tenant Refuses to Vacate After Lease Ended – What Are My Options? Hi everyone, I’m a first-time landlord, and I need some advice on how to handle a difficult situation. My father owns a rental property, and I’ve been managing it on his behalf. Here’s the issue: We had a tenant whose lease ended some time ago. Despite multiple requests, they’ve not vacated the property, even though we extended the timeline to accommodate them. Recently, during a phone call, we agreed that they would leave by the end of this month (31st December 2024), but I’m not confident they will follow... 1 0 replies

Women’s western reception gown Hey all, posting on behalf of my wife. She is looking for places that would sell western reception gowns for a church wedding. The budget is around 15-30k Rs. We do not live in the city and hence don’t have much idea where to begin and search 😅 Looked at few generic brands like Zara, Aldo etc but couldn’t find any. Also preference is to find something ready made since timewindow is short! Thanks in advance for the help. 2 0 replies

What’s something cool I can do solo in SoBo? Need some fresh ideas I’m thinking of spending the day solo tomorrow (Sunday). I used to hang out here with friends alot but we are not in touch anymore, so now it’s just me. Any ideas? Looking for some hidden gem spots, especially for food or places to just chill. 4 0 replies
Why is HR so overhyped? I know it's a college with CAs and chill attendance, but even for unaided courses, the crowd feels so non-engaging and unfriendly. The majority of the students are SoBo Gujus and in my class alone, 38 people were part of RCHR during their JC. They have their own unofficial group and barely attend college. Even the other classmates don't seem to get along well. And don't even get me started on the club culture. The amount of work they make you do, combined with the ego of some club... 5 0 replies
Need Suggestions for a 12-Hour Mumbai Surprise Hey fellow Mumbaikars and travelers, A little backstory before I ask for your suggestions: My girlfriend (27F) and I (26M) are traveling from Hyderabad to Mumbai on 17th December for her birthday. It’s a surprise trip, and I’m trying to make it as special as possible because of what Mumbai means to us. Back in February, when we were still friends, we impulsively decided to explore a new city together and ended up in Mumbai for a brief 10-hour trip. That day was magical—we visited places like Siddhivinayak, Chowpatty... 5 0 replies
Is it ok for Ola/Uber drivers to ask you to pay outside the app? This happens so often and I generally refuse cause it feels unethical but I was wondering if the ride sharing apps are squeezing them tight so they have to resort to such practices to make money. And if for whatever reason they insist and I have no other option, I always pay less than what the app shows since they are trying to take the commission of the ride aggregator as well. I mean they can’t deny the fact that without the aggregator, they wouldn’t have found the customer... 3 0 replies
Is this type of discrimination common in Mumbai? Basically my father and few of his other colleagues who were selected by the current org received an onsite contract from a different company( a very common household name and basically almost a government funded org) and had to move to Mumbai. Now everyone in their team is from a different background. Out of the six people, one is muslim from karnataka and the rest are all hindus and they planned to take a 2BHK house/flat together near to the office. They initially tried to rent a house near... 2 0 replies
