i have a marriage hall near my house where people sometimes occasionally party at night ..and the street dogs join them too in generating more and more noise. when i goto bed i turn on the fan of the other room and use my earphones and play some raining type sounds which does well to cancel the outside noise

PS - I literally have done everything that OP has mentioned and more and the experience stays with you forever. Yes.. this city heals you, makes you stronger.You take refuge in this city in your bad times and see it go away on its own. Even if something bad happens to you, the city helps you to get back on your feet. I was born in Mumbai suburbs and lived there before coming here and now that city feels alien to me.
