    Mean reversion strategy

I recently watched a video on how the mean reversion strategy was the hot new thing in the 80s. How did it take us so long to discover that? It makes you wonder about what low hanging fruit is just waiting to be picked up.

Just for fun, it's Friday :-)

A trading analogy, teachings by Ivor Biggen. Once upon a time there was a large body of water called Lake Exchange. The lake was occupied by a huge whale called Warren, and millions of his little minnow friends known collectively as 'the plebs'. Every weekday the plebs played with Warren in the murky waters, their favourite game was called 'where's Warren going?'. In all their excitement, some of the plebs would swim towards Warren, while the slightly smarter plebs would swim behind him. Warren would always give a big...

Tesla Intraday Trading - Double Chances or Double Trouble?

Dear Trading Community, I had an enlightening idea while showering this morning that's either completely idiotic or absolutely brilliant. Let's philosophize about Tesla and the art of leveraged trading. The thesis is actually quite simple: Tesla is notoriously more volatile than a teenager's mood swings. So why not capitalize on this volatility? The plan: Every morning at the same time, simultaneously open both a long and short position with moderate leverage (5-15x). Tesla will inevitably move in *some* direction (unless it's another sideways market day, but who believes in...

    Trading is a luxury

I just finished watching In the Heart of the Sea. Its a movie about the story of the writing of Moby Dick and goes through the story of a crew trying to get riches by whaling for 2 years. The trip didn't go well and damn near everyone died. Meanwhile, we get to sit here, looking at our computer or our phones, wherever we are and if were determined, skilled and lucky we can make more money than we ever want. How lucky we are to live in this...

Update: Smart Money Still Cautious Amid Significant Sell-Off

In my earlier post, “S&P 500: What Is Smart Money Doing Right Now?”, we discussed how Smart Money was signaling weakness. Since then, the markets have seen notable volatility, culminating in today’s strong sell-off. Looking at the updated chart, it’s clear that Smart Money has not yet started to engage (i.e., buy back in). This continued caution suggests that the current downturn could have deeper implications unless we see a recovery here.... https://preview.redd.it/y7hw9dxtd7ce1.png?width=1083&format=png&auto=webp&s=8ec3a778996d8940261fbe139c8efda9b1e3a091

News On Google’s Monopoly Battle And Updates On The $350M Investor Settlement

If you missed it, the DOJ recently recommended Google sell Chrome over online search monopoly issues. Google has already said this would harm consumers and developers, and proposed to make its contracts more flexible. While today’s focus is on Google’s search monopoly, it’s not the first time the company has faced scrutiny. In 2018, WSJ reported that Google found a "glitch" in Google+ earlier that year, which affected data security. Between 2015 and March 2018, this glitch allowed outside developers access to almost 500k (!!) users' data. And despite...

    Securities/Trading Standards and laws?

Obviously no one may be an expert here but to anyone's best knowledge....I have an issue with trading on coinbase recently and want to know the answers to a few questions. 1. Is there some sort of minimum standard of liquidity an exchange is expected to maintain to avoid price manipulation? Specifically 15-20% one minute candles for something traded in it's futures contracts? I know its a liquidity issue because the spot price was not fluctuation more than 1% during that time and this volatility was experienced during the...

Am I Missing Issues in My Trading Bot Process?

I’ve been working on a trading bot with a simple strategy that decides when to buy, sell, and close trades based on timings learned from historical data. Here’s how the process works: * **Training**: The bot trains on 1.5 years of data across 21 symbols, aiming to find strategies that perform well overall. * **Testing**: Strategies are tested on 6 months of unseen data, evaluating performance symbol by symbol to select the best ones. * **Daily Updates**: This process is repeated every night, and the selected strategies are only...

FTMO Trial challenge - good sign?

So, I've been messing around with the FTMO challenge but I still didn't get the guts to pay for it, so yesterday I went for my seconod trial. First one was a huge failure because I just hated the oldfashioned platforms that look like windos 95... and then I guess I caught a whale moving today and I believe I would've passed the challenge in 2 days :D What do you guys think? should I go for it? I am not beginning from scratch in trading, I have some...

Budding investor here. Would like some advice

Hello all, 18 year old budding investor here, as the title states I am interested in beginning my investing journeyand needbsome advice or general tips. A little backstory, my friends invest in multiple things from day trading to ETFs and I figured why not start too at a young age. I try to ask where they get their knowledge from and they were kind of vague saying lots of videos and websites and of course this didn't really help me. I feel like if I just start, I'll be...

What type of trading for stay at home mom?

I've been getting more and more interested about trading. After listening to some podcasts on day trading I think it's pretty clear that you need to be a) really good at it and b) have a lot of money to blow and even then you can still lose tons of $$$. Most podcasts I listened to don't recommend it. Now.. I wonder.. is there 'a type' of trading that one can do that still requires you to learn the skill and get good at it but doesn't require you...
