    Hindu funeral prayer

Can anyone help to recommend a Hindu prayer translated into English to be read at a funeral please. A relative of mine who has passed, was a Hindu although had become westernised living in the UK, his family would like to honour his religion with a Hindu prayer at his funeral. We’ve looked online but there seems to be lots of different translations of the same prayers so not sure which is right and what would be the most appropriate to read at a funeral. Has anyone had a...

A comprehensive debunk of an Islamic apologist's video denying Kashmir's Hindu roots

**Namaskaram good people of this subreddit**! As the title says,in this post i will debunk an Islamic apologist's video on Kashmir that **involves denial of Kashmir's Hindu roots**. \*\*Firstly,\*\*this is the video that i am referring to- [https://youtu.be/Qdsyhw3vz9o?si=qovQsfifa4te68ww](https://youtu.be/Qdsyhw3vz9o?si=qovQsfifa4te68ww) I know that this is a pretty short video,**BUT** i found it necessary to debunk this video since i've seen the arguments that are included in this video being thrown around alot on the internet since many years. Now,let's begin the deconstruction of the Islamic apologist hitpiece point by point- **1....

Shree Krishna ji and Shree Balarama ji leaving for Mathura. Jai Shree Krishna

https://preview.redd.it/6ls4cm3xi4ie1.png?width=979&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e6cc7d9df764cfc048c145ccbaf4c29ce4c734e Shree Krishna and Shree Balarama accepted Kamsa's invitation and got ready to go to Mathura. Seeing Balarama and Krishna mounting Akrura's chariot the next day, the gopikas and gopalas blocked the pathway, thereby not allowing Akrura to take their Krishna away from them. They were not worried about any harm that might be caused by the evil-minded Kamsa; instead their fear was that Krishna might not return to Brindavan. The gopikas and gopalas were drowned in sorrow. Gopikas said that we do not desire any worldly ends. We...

Had anyone noticed that the scriptures don’t explicitly tell mantras to be chanted?

I was reading a scripture, I forgot which, and it tells that they should chant a specific mantra for Shiva. They don’t give it explicitly though. They describe it and we have to reconstruct the mantra. For example they may say “na” is the third syllable and “ma” is the fourth syllable, and such. Sometimes they say that the mantras is bits and pieces of other mantras. How come they don’t just directly tell the mantra, instead of describing it.

What do you think about pratik Prajapati (founder of veducation)

I used to follow him and had his app downloaded but never saw most of his videos ... He says he wants to open 108k gurukuls but he says that they will not teach any modern sciences (they will only teach sastras) and his Gurukuls will be closed for women because "women are happiest as housewife". I still don't understand how he has such a large following with this primitive mindset... Basically he wants to create a Hindu Taliban ... I feel like such people only pull us and...

    Help me understand Hinduism

I am a non religious person and very interested in understanding Hinduism , I want to understand and learn about Hindu Gods. For example in almost any other religion there is God at #1 then he has angels and a Prophet who is usually his #2. So basically who is #1 in Hinduism and then #2 and so on. ( like a family tree etc. I tried online but it seems a little hard for me as a non religious person.

What to read after reading Gita? (for beginners/half baked knowledge of scriptures)

Hare Krishn! As per my last [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/hinduism/comments/1i7c938/need_an_english_translated_gita_for_a_layman_like/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), I asked for a good english translation of the Bhagavad Gita and now, having read Gitapress's version, I'm looking for more texts with simple English translations of scriptures (Puranas, epics, tales, commentaries and more). Kindly suggest something that a beginner must read after having read Gita and it should be an English translated text. I'm looking to learn more, whether it's mythology or philosophy! Thank you in advance!
