Dilli wali Goa I was sitting in a small restaurant in south goa run by people from the north east or Nepal. The space was about half full with mostly foreigners, I was probably the only Indian there, or maybe another one - I can’t be sure. A car stopped in the middle of the road and - a couple with another lady and her child maybe (2 years old) got off the car. They walked into the restaurant and asked for paneer and roti which the service staff politely informed them... 1 0 replies
A lot has changed about Goa in the past few years. Goa isn’t welcoming anymore to me personally, but here are a few sunsets I’ve spent my birthday watching. Think Twice Before Dining at Copperleaf, Panjim Think Twice Before Visiting Copperleaf, Panjim If you’re planning to go to Copperleaf in Panjim, you might want to reconsider. They are using well water meant for the residents instead of the clean, treated tank water they are supposed to use. This well is the main water source for people living in the area, but because of Copperleaf’s excessive usage, residents are left without water almost every day—even for basic necessities like toilets. The water they do receive is often black and dirty, which raises serious concerns about what’s... 2 0 replies

Buying My First Car: Advice Needed! Hello lovely people! After managing with a two-wheeler for a long time, the inevitable has finally happened: the need for a car. So I have done my research and finalised the car/model/dealer etc etc but CAR INSURANCE has me a little bit stumped. I'm looking for suggestions/experience of the different comprehensive+bumper to bumper providers. I figured this would be the most relevant sub to ask this question, since you would know the ground realities living here and have first-hand experience of dealing with service cetres/repairs/insurance payouts and coverage etc.... 3 0 replies

Meaning of Ya Ya Maya Ya Since childhood, I know Ya Ya Maya Ya basically means let’s go to Mayem. Recently when I searched to confirm what it means, I read some views saying its Portuguese phrase. Some said often used in endings of konkani songs as phrase showcasing happiness. Thought post here for views. 4 5 replies
Checking at Margao station? I'm catching a late night train (12ish) from Margao station. Does anyone check bags for bottles? Body pat down/scanner searches happen at the station or once inside the train? If yes, any way to avoid this? Alternative ways to enter the station? Can't book a flight because rates are through the roof. Thanks! 1 0 replies

Finding someone who lives in Goa Hi all, this post feels like a bit of a long shot, but hopefully someone here can help me. In the 2000s my (step) grandad moved to Goa after divorcing my grandmother. We were in regular contact with him until around 2017 or so when he seemed to drop off the face of the earth. I've tried emailing him every so often since then but it's rare I receive a reply. I last heard from him in 2021. His name is Michael Koenigs, a German national who'd be around... 2 0 replies
