If we wanted any more reason why Magnus' and his private backers' attempts to control the game will be terrible for chess. I get it. FIDE is corrupt, bureaucratic and comes up with stupid rules. But I find Magnus' antics inexcusable and I see no reason to believe he & his private backers will do a better job in organizing chess events and a World Championship cycle. In fact, I believe they will be even more terrible than FIDE. Here's the list of things he's been doing the past two months before he strongarmed FIDE to split the World Blitz title: 1.
