Construction occuring past midnight. Our neighborhood has a upcoming project, which unfortunately is next door. Construction work is still going on from morning. Tried complaining to the cops, but no luck. It's really loud and distrubing. Any suggestions how to go about this? Looks like the builders have bribed cops to carry on their work into the night. 3 4 replies

My Cousin’s Tragic Accident and the Harsh Reality of Our System On December 19th, my younger cousin had a life-changing accident while returning home after meeting his colleague. He’s one of the most humble, kind, and hardworking people I know. A role model among all my cousins. At the entrance of Chennai (Perungalathur), he hit a pothole and was struck by a government bus. The impact left him with severe injuries to his left leg, spine, pelvis, hand, and shoulder. Strangers rushed him to Chromepet Government Hospital (GH), and we were informed shortly after. When we arrived, we were told... 2 11 replies
Chennai roads have become worse since 2021 Before anyone starts attacking, I'll let you know that I'm not a supporter of any of the political parties. Let's not bring that into the discussion. 🙏 I've actually noticed that the condition of the roads in our city has become worse since the time the new govt has taken over. Is it just me or anyone else felt the same? Potholes everywhere, milled roads lying in the same condition for long period of time, broken footpaths, you name it... Commute to the office on scooter takes real toll... 4 20 replies
Barefoot at the Statue of Wisdom: Oh, the Irony So here I am, a humble tourist at the Thiruvalluvar statue of wisdom in Kanyakumari, hopping barefoot across sun-scorched tiles because, apparently, wisdom demands sweaty feet and burnt soles. Respect, they said. tradition, they said. Sure, fine! But wait, when someone dares suggest adorning Thiruvalluvar with a Kaavi robe, the DMK goes into full meltdown mode, shouting “sangithanam” like it’s the end of secularism as we know it. Excuse me? Is this not the same sangithanam when we’re all shoe/slipper-less in the name of reverence? Or does political ideology... 5 2 replies

Bye Bye Chennai! Hello makkale! Heading to my native, Tenkasi, for the Pongal holidays. Took a cab from Mylapore to Kilambakkam bus stand for ₹430, and the driver politely asked for ₹100 extra. Agreed, as it was raining lightly, and there were three of us with luggage. The driver was very polite, so it felt fair. Kilambakkam bus stand looks neat and well-maintained. The bus also seems decent—hoping for a good ride. This is my first bus journey. Wishing everyone a very happy Pongal! 2 20 replies
