No matter how "paltu" rajat got called, he stood by his promise to arfeen of taking care of sara till the end. The whole narrative that was pushed in WKV of sara being a burden to rajat and her ruining his game since many weeks never made him question his bond. For someone who is known for changing his samikaran according to what suits him, it would have been very much within his character to leave her as well.
