YES you should. I would start slow honestly. If being around people isn't a problem then just go to the gym. Don't overdo it. Aim for consistency rather than volume. If being around people is a problem, you can get in great shape from home. A stationary bike, walking outside, pushups, pullups, squats go a longggg way. Maybe some dumbbells aswell

I have a weekly todo list on my profile you can download and use for free if you'd find that helpful. It's been very helpful for me to start making those small changes and to most importantly stay consistent. Puts it right on paper where I can see whether or not I did it. And then when I fail I can reassess what went wrong and adjust to make the goal easier so I can guaranteed hit it.

If you do 1 hour a day every single day you're setting yourself up for failure. Stretching every single day for 5-10 minutes then weights/bodyweight 2-3 times per week to start? Thats more like it. Meet yourself where you're at and see what you're capable of because you definitely are. I imagine the volume will vary from person to person but in general I think beginning light is the best idea, so its STICKS!

Edit: Yeah man you're already outside walking I'd totally go for it and add in 1-3 days per week of light weights so your body gets used to it then progressively add intensity/weight. I'd imagine stretching will be very important for you considering your pain.

Also a small tip, if you switch to an ecig your cardio will improve within a few weeks and you'll cough less. Highly recommended and cheaper (you can make your own DIY ejuice for pretty cheap) thats what I do while I move towards quitting)
