Why is there no global lost and found with a viable business model? I will not promote.
Around 7-8 years ago I built something that was pretty close to what you're describing.
I built an ios and android app, as well as a website that was a Lost & Found company.
Users could post anything they've lost or found and share their posts, which would link back to the post on our website. The app also featured a map where you could see posts around you and in-app messaging to help handle getting the items back.
It was just myself doing all the programming and one other person handling everything else, such as promotion, feedback, testing and finances.
We struggled to get users for the first 2-3 years but then we "partnered" with a few different music festivals. They weren't huge festivals but I think they're still going on and one had several events in the US along with a couple overseas.
The partnership was essentially us building them custom "festival" pages in the app and website so festival admins could manage the lost & found inventory.
For the first festival, we actually flew out and setup a lost and found booth during the festival. That weekend was actually one of my most memorable moments as a software engineer where we helped a girl in absolute tears recover her cellphone on the last night of the festival while it was raining and everyone was leaving. She was so relived and her friends and her all cried happy tears when we found her phone which helped her find her friends.
We also entered into a startup incubator but at that point, we were like 3-4 years in, made $0 and I started a new job paying me pretty well so we both decided to end things.
Definitely a wild time and while I wouldn't say we were financially successful, I'll always cherish the memories and I learned a ton through the experience.
More than happy to answer any questions or elaborate on our experiences since it was pretty close to what you were describing.
One last thing, we did have an idea for monetization by allowing users to attach rewards to lost items and then people could claim it through the app with us getting a percentage but we never implemented it and I questioned some of the ethics around it as others have pointed out in this thread it could potentially be exploited. -
I understand it can be scary for a girl living alone. But why do these influencers have to show the street they live in almost every day, their house from outside, the places they visit nearby, their car number and then face privacy issues. (in frame: Aryanshi Sharma)

What does it mean to do an aarti of a person?
Lighting a diya is to cleanse the aura with fire. Karpoor is for removing negativity. Some traditions use Kumkum and Haldi for the same reason. Nazar/Drishti removal isnt a part of this ritual. For that, rock salt/common salt is used with mustard seeds in both hands and is waved anticlockwise around the person and then discarded in fire. There are various other methods in various traditions to do the same rituals. -

Bangalore IT Flat Layoffs
I am facing the same dilemma. A decent 2 BHK from a well known builder in Bangalore south now costs 1.2-1.8 cr. I have checked with many of my relatives and colleagues who own a house in Bangalore. Most of them are suggesting not to buy as they are overpriced and lack basic amenities.
Major Issues :
1. Water - We are already facing this crisis for a few years and it's only going to get worse. Most of the new projects in Yelahanka, Kanakapura road, Whitefield have no means of water. They are building using tanker water. They are building 100s of villas and selling them at 5-8 crs without basic amenities like water.
2. Maintenance cost - many of my colleagues are paying around 10k per month for maintenance. I feel that it's way too much.
3. Economic Instability - with job market in a bad state, if laid off, then you are pretty much fucked.
4. Overpricing - Most of the flats I have come across, feel like they could be worth 60-80 lakhs and they are charging twice as much. Add a loan on top of that, you will spend 15-20 years in a debt trap with no means to escape.
I have also had few family members telling me to go for it as the real estate will only go upwards and I might regret not buying early. Since I am still young, I will be able to pay off the loan early. It would also add value if I am looking to marry someone. But I am still not convinced. I feel that it's a huge investment and a huge commitment, investing the same money in a small scale business feels a little less risky to me. -
Trump has canceled Biden's ethics rules. Critics call it the opposite of 'drain the swamp'
In Trumps mind “the swamp” is just a euphemism for accountability. -
Beginner looking to learn, where do I start?
Try starting small at first. Overtime start creating a strategy by reading, watching videos, and learning how to analyze charts. It is not a fast process at all so be prepared for that. -
