But picture this. The only way your friend gets to marry the guy is if they run away and marry. Already a bad thing to do. If the whole business is in name of his father, the guy is financially dependent as of now. If they run, he won't have a source of income. Your friend can be the source of income, but is she really the person you want to burden with stress of earning, while she is already going through issues due to parent's divorce and the stress of running away?

The guy can, in theory, also earn by doing not so highly skilled jobs, considering he never just wanted to sit at his father's business and developed a niche or mass employement skill(such as IT). But I doubt it.

And starting a new life after running away isn't easy either. One word out in society and your best option to survive is moving out to another area.

I hate myself for writing this. People hardly find soulmate nowadays and to be not able to marry due to factors out of your hands is just disheartening.
