The future of content marketing is going to require businesses to build trust *before* they attract readers. Writers are still gonna write, but they're gonna write more specific, opinionated and/or specialized content, and they'll have to build reputation either on their own or through a trusted platform. It'll squeeze out many people working in SEO today.
