For a country/state to develop, they need heavy competition. For example, US had Russia in Space wars, space exploration boomed and we even reached Moon. In movies, Rajini had Kamal, Ajith had Vijay and they bought the best out of each other. Similarly, in TN, we had ADMK countering DMK and vice versa.

The strong opposition highlighting the issues meant the public was aware of the current govt's flaws. This swinged elections to each party at the end of 5/10 years. However, once JJ passed, ADMK fell like house of cards. This gave a monopoly to DMK who heavily controlled the narrative that people see. They hire PR agencies to always look good to the people leaving them with no choice but to vote for them again. BJP is a shit show as well. Annamalai's antics are not helping him establish a strong opposition. That leaves with the current govt doing the bare minimum to stay relevant - meaning growth stagnates.
