Here's my experience about how even a cheap ₹800-₹1000 helmet saved my head and life.

I was in 11th grade, returning home from school. Stuck in traffic due to a political event, I was riding at 15-20 km/h when two guys on a Pulsar hit me from behind at high speed. Their crash guard got stuck with my scooter's flatbed, dragging me along. I fell onto a divider with sharp metal railings. At first, I didn’t feel anything and stood up, removed my helmet, and tried to confront the biker. But when I looked at myself, I saw my white bone exposed and half my hamstring hanging.

I was shocked, started shivering, and called my dad after failing to reach my mom. Bystanders realized the severity and called an ambulance, but traffic delayed it. A DSP officer took me in their vehicle to the nearest government hospital, where they stitched me up hastily. Later, at AIIMS, interns kept undoing and redoing the stitches without proper anesthesia. Frustrated, I went to a reputed hospital in my city. There, I underwent two invasive procedures, plastic surgery, and skin grafting, staying in the hospital for 1.5 months, costing ₹3 Lakhs.

When I got home, my dad showed me the helmet, and its outer shell was ruptured, proving it had saved my life.

TLDR: Even a cheap helmet can save your life. Always wear one and stay safe!

Been in Delhi for past 11 years now. I like this city coz of multitudes of factors. But Delhi is equally racist, if not more. Delhites are casually racist but won't hate. Like they will say oi chinki bhai, momo laga de. This is what my classmates would call me. I like this city, but will I fight for the glory of it, I guess no. There are more things we need to improve. For a capital city, it is a shitty place.
