Am I cooked?
Well if my math is correct 20 percent correction will take nifty back to 18k to 19k. I don't think it is NORMAL.
Around 5 to 7 percent of correction is okayish.

Tell me more about kanpur
There’s nothing worth mentioning about the city. You may come across some people who’ll boast about biggest mall of Asia, biggest school, biggest college of asia, but don’t believe them. Chances of getting duped is high. Inflated real estate without any facilities.
Living expenses are very low, you can get good schooling for your kids, good healthcare. That’s all. -

What if the British were still in Kerala and all over India? What would the future of our state and country look like? Please share your thoughts on both the positive and negative aspects of such a scenario.
Extremely difficult to predict because the variables are too many. Let's take some best and worst case scenarios, without giving in to emotions:
Best case scenario in my opinion: British consolidate India, settle and mix, forming a Brazil like structure, with native cultures and British culture hybridized, eventually bringing up a unified identity, maybe build huge Nuclear powered industrial centers and technological hubs. Local languages and cultural aspects are picked and preserved. A mixed population with a strong sense of identity, in a highly developed country is the result.
Worse case scenario: British settle and isolate themselves forming around 10-20% of the population, and establish an Apartheid rule. Social structures of the country (well had already, but worsened), are destroyed, forcing the lives of millions to crime and violence. There's no recovery point from there. Rich people/Upper castes or whatever, leave and settle in the US or Latin America or something, much like how the rich Greek Orthodox Christians left the Levant to Latin America, who previously formed 30-35% in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. What happens to Apartheid is an another puzzle. The broken populations, like how the broken tribes post the Aryan invasion were converted to Dalits and Shudras, in this case, the broken population might likely be periodically assimilated. Abandonment like South Africa is impossible, because the 20% White British population cannot go anywhere else without collapsing that economy as no country can house those many people overnight (look at 20-30 million people).
I don't think the British would risk a genocide, orders of magnitude worse than Hitler's, because in the post WW2 world, that's an immediate suicide. With or without WW2, genocide is something that never might have happened because the British public were also too empathetic about people and there would be strong opposition, unlike in Germany where people were quite standoffish by then (but still you have Meip Geis and such people. With Britain it would be 1000x such).
The outcome would be a British socialist plan to build Nuclear powered industrial centers, build up the country and somehow blend the "broken populations" and rebuild the country with a new identity. Richer populations who ran away are likely happy and integrated citizens not wanting to return, now speaking English or Portuguese. The new language of the country could be English with new dialects of local languages created, post Apartheid.
This worst case scenario is almost impossible because Indian institutions were quite strong and you cannot whack down those without a mass rebellion, deaths and violence (The British were shit scared when the Hindu Muslim riots started in 1946 that they ran away 3 years before, from the dominion when the planned departure was in 1950).
Another unusual case: No larger British settlement, but small and scattered ones with, just rule. Impossible in the long run, but might require the same techno futuristic solutions as the above to uplift the populations and rebuild the country, and build a sort of Singapore.
Most likely case would be: It would be a richer version of Brazil or a larger version of Kerala, with a rich mix of religions and traditions , largely mixed population and a strong Nuclear powered industrial sector. It would likely not happen as a direct colonization in the later eras but more of a collaborative and free market co-operation and a steady mixing, mostly promoted with soft power (just like how American soft power is strong in the Indian cities). But much more.
Resource colonialism had already started to decline by the 20th century as the World industrialized. Nobody wanted your raw materials but more people wanted industrial and technological products. They would likely create a joint use of those, native and British, if they really wanted to keep India and keep it peacefully.
Please note: None of this should be taken to justify colonialism. It was a nightmare and the only way forward could be a collaborative growth. But nobody could give you 100% yes or no answer to how it could be. Too many variables. -
