Why are small jobs not respected in India?
A lot of it has to do with casteism - your occupation is attached to your family’s lineage. -

I support three language policy
Language war aside, learning 3 languages in school is a burden. Not everyone picks up a new language easily. I have met people who pick up a new language within a month and start to engage in conversation in that language and then there are people who just cant pick it up after trying for years. And this is just in respect to speaking the language. Reading, writing and learning its grammar is a whole other ball game.
I studied in KV till my 10th as my father was a central govt employee and we had to move to different states often. I have done my schooling in Tripura, Gujarat and then majorly in TN. Since its impractical to teach transferring students the local languages of the state KV teaches only English, Hindi and Sanskrit. I studied hindi till my 10th and completed my schooling one and a half decades ago, even today I can speak and understand hindi somewhat fluently but can only read and write in a 5th grade level. So in the end I had to sacrifice reading and writing in my mother tongue for this.
I have hardly met anyone from south india who can read and write fluently in hindi and understand its literature after learning hindi majorly in their school even though they can speak fluently, lets not talk about sanskrit. I suspect that this is due to people speaking a different tongue in their home which reduces the familiarity with hindi. If you want to change that then the mother tongues would have to be replaced at homes because what is the use of learning hindi if you cant read, write well and contribute to its literature? This is what people are solely against.
You may ask then how English became so relevant when we dont speak it at home. That is because we learn all of our other subjects like maths, science, history in english and so its becomes familiar. Thats why people who study these subjects in local medium have difficulty picking up english like hindi.
In conclusion, you can easily learn your mother tongue because you are familiar with it by using it in your home and english because you become familiar with it by using it to learn other subjects. There is no room for a 3rd language for you to get familiar with. -
