The efforts that are put in by the common people to maintain the etiquette of the road is as low as the government’s efforts to build a safer and better road infrastructure. I’d like to list down a few points that mention mistakes made by both sides.

Mistakes made by the government:

1) Bad drainage systems: there are manholes on the centre of the main road rather than on the side, the manhole covers are sometimes deeper than the road level and sometimes a whole feet above the road level, they cause unnecessary slowing of traffic. Plus, the seepage of water into the road is the main reason why potholes are created.

2) No uniformity in size of speed breakers on the road.

3) ‘Expressways’ don’t have banking curves to prevent oversteering accidents. They aren’t barricaded from cattle and animals crossing the road.

Mistakes made by the public:

1) Large transport vehicles entering the interiors of the city during peak hours due to highway restrictions. Plus, they don’t maintain a single lane.

2) Driving slowly on a fast lane.

3) Using the left lane to park vehicles.

4) Autos and two wheeler food delivery partners showing carelessness in others’ safety on the road.

Now I come to my solutions part. I believe we must make the ‘catch a person violating traffic rules to earn a bounty’ thing happen. The government MUST and I stress on the word MUST, make the driver license tests more difficult and organised rather than encouraging bribery.
