My first culture shock visiting the US was how much noticeable makeup women wore on an average. Like the ladies had a FULL beat to just go to a Target. The parts of Europe that I’ve been to, it’s a lot less noticeable. Yeah women wear makeup but it’s nowhere as cakey as American makeup. I don’t even think it’s a western thing, it’s just super American imo.

So idk if it’s about women not finding the right products, but rather we usually skip base unless it’s an event. Like if I turned up to a coffee/drink meet with full glam, my friends would definitely think it’s weird. But urban women in India wear a lot of makeup too, just that it’s super subtle (sheer/semi-coverage foundation, concealer, lining the lash/water line, mascara, blush, lip tint, etc).

Weather most definitely plays an important role. Add pollution to the mix too.
