Is it ok to listen to Vishnu Sahasranam instead of chanting it. (For a beginner)
Listening and chanting I believe have different outcomes.
When you chant a mantra you utter the words with a particular sound, rythm and frequency. This makes your mind focus on what you are chanting easily and also stimulates the vagus nerve and affects your parasympathetic nervous system to induce a meditative state of mind.
However, when you are listening, it doesn't do it to that extent. The vagus nerve doesn't get stimulated at all and so it doesn't have an effect on the parasympathetic nervous system. You might be able to focus on what you are listening and that can induce a meditative state of mind (also called exteroceptive meditation) but it simply is not comparable to the previous one.
Chanting has stronger outcomes. -

How to be okay with your parent prioritising others over you
All relationships go through various phases; ups and downs are a part of life. You may receive validation from your mother at times, while at other times, no validation may be needed at all. You are 22, an adult, and still very young. You have a long life ahead with major milestones such as getting a job, buying a house or property, purchasing a car or bike, deciding on marriage or staying single, choosing parenting or a child-free life, building social relationships, dealing with in-laws, neighbors, and more.
What I suggest is to sit down, think carefully, and take a pen and paper. Write down the goals you want to achieve in life in terms of these milestones. Then, determine which milestones involve your mother the most compared to your father, siblings, and others.
It's okay if your mother is not a significant part of some milestones—for example, work-related matters, where friends and social connections may support you better. Refine this list over several weeks, as you will gain new insights while writing down your goals. This process should help you embark on a new journey in life where you seek minimal to no validation from your mother. -
