Can we offset short-term capital gains (STCG) losses against long-term capital gains (LTCG) profits?

I have ₹1.5 lakh in LTCG and ₹3,000 in STCG. I would like to know if I can sell some underperforming short-term stocks to reduce my LTCG profits from ₹1.5 lakh to below ₹1.25 lakh.

    Time to exit Quant

I was one of the early adopters of the Quant story back in 2019. Sandeep Tandon has made me a ton of profit in the past as I invest in 5 Quant funds across my family of eight. And I do not make a great deal out of the Front Running allegations back in June 2024, their ethics may have been wobbly but a fund must be judged solely on its financial metrices. But now for the first time in nearly 6 years I am forced to question their...

Arbitrage Opportunity in ETFs Tracking an Index?

If an ETF like the HDFC Smallcap 250 falls by 2% but its tracking index smallcap 250 only drops by 1.5%, is there an arbitrage opportunity here? Or am I misunderstanding how ETF pricing works? Looking for insights!

CPSE ETF investors: Are you planning to hold on to it through 2025?

The ETF has tanked terribly since its peaks this Jul-Aug, and looks like most fund-manager surveys are indicating that market is more interested in IT, Banks etc., for 2025 but not in PSUs anymore (especially Power, Energy, Infra stocks where CPSE has 80% exposure in). Therefore, are you considering holding on to any existing investments in CPSE ETF, or are you planning to reallocate? If reallocate, where are you considering?

Can we take a short entry in BSE????

https://preview.redd.it/rwcoss5tc08e1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16729ffe06e49bb72a553dffe1005b951a310569 Market sentiment has been negative for the past few days, and I came across BSE, which could give us a short trade. Currently, BSE is trading near its all-time high and has entered a consolidation phase. On the hourly chart, the stock is slowly moving upward while finding support at a small trendline. However, the RSI is showing a downward trend, signaling a loss of momentum and forming a bearish RSI divergence. Additionally, the RMI (Rohit Momentum Indicator) has generated a sell signal. If the stock breaches its...

The recent IPOs of Mamata, DAMS, TransRail all got filed to BSE from UpStox... So I have already...

Is Coal India with such a low PE good buy? Everything is decent.

Coal demand will continue increasing in India. The company is doing good. It has gone significantly from high. PE is low with good metrics. Last but not the least, it is one of the favourite stocks of Parag Parikh

First time bought and sold a ipo: Regretting why didn't I apply for any ipos before

I didn't know kuch about ipos and after getting to know about it last week I applied for vishal mart and it got allotted. Unfortunately I didn't sell it yesterday and I sold it today though the profit would've been huge if I had sold yesterday. But still I got 4k rupees profit. I bought the ipo 190 shares for 14,850 and today I told all of em for 19k. This number is huge for me and I never made this much profits before. Ofc I should have luck...

Till the market find it's value zone, why don't we educate ourselves to capture trends when they come after this correction season. What makes a stock tradable intraday or in swing trading (part-2c)

In the last post we've gone through the a simple volume pattern that is observed in stocks in play : [https://www.reddit.com/r/StocksQnA/comments/1hdgxly/what\_makes\_a\_stock\_tradable\_intraday\_or\_in\_swing/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/StocksQnA/comments/1hdgxly/what_makes_a_stock_tradable_intraday_or_in_swing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) In this post I would like to delve into a volume pattern/s that is quite common in these stocks doing high volumes on catalysts/big breakouts and are in play: This volume pattern is usually called: Accumulation-Breakout-Distribution Volumes or may have more synonymous names, these patterns essentially are found at top and bottom of a huge move. As usual this volume pattern is fractal in nature hence can be...

i know it's over diversified and the portfolio is shit, but i need suggestions

[This portfolio has a story better than Pushpa 2 lol. So half of the stocks were suggested by a random dude on instagram and idk how but 99% of the time, his suggestions were spot on. Apparently he was part of a trading company. I made crazy gains thru him, but I deleted my instagram account out of some personal reasons. After that I decided to start my own research and few of the stocks are result of my research. My first bet was Zomato which went really really...

Why Parag Parikh Flexi Cap has such high level of Debt.

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap is primarily an equity-focused fund, but I’ve noticed it has a surprisingly high level of debt exposure. Are they anticipating something major in the market? 🤔 Update: Checked using Waybackmachine, this is one of the highest-ever cash position. Happy to be proved wrong. https://preview.redd.it/whwu15ffuu7e1.png?width=2750&format=png&auto=webp&s=53ec1c927bacd5a127fa032d435ed96b7b66471c

Should Investors Be Concerned About Asian Paints’ Recent Leadership Exodus?

https://preview.redd.it/50tz8sq57r7e1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27b9973ba11a997a301b23dc46390ef717e1c05e Asian Paints, through two separate exchange filings, announced the resignation of Vishu Goel, Associate Vice President of Retail Sales, and Shyam Swamy, Vice President of Home Improvement, Decor, and Services. Following these announcements, Asian Paints shares dropped 3.4%, hitting a 52-week low. The stock has broken below a 4-year consolidation range and is now trading near its 61.8% Fibonacci support level at 2250 on the monthly chart. The momentum indicator points to bearish but oversold conditions. Additionally, the valuation metric (EV/EBITDA) is at 2 standard deviations below its...

Link InTime is absolute worst POS. Barely responsive and made me lose almost 5k in various fees in order to dematerialise old shares, and simply sends me a return saying i have to do it again, and absolutely no extra guidance on how to do it better.

I have shares of Aroni chemicals of my grandpas, which became Saraswati Commercials. I still have the Aroni Chem certificates, and was trying to process dematerialisation, for which they said you need to have the original share certificate, or duplicate. (Link Intime acknowleges new cert number and shares on their folio) and so I applied for duplicate certificates. They told us to make 2 x 500 rupee stamp papers, one for affidavits, and one for indemnity. Processing the whole thing, along with notary charges and other misc, costed me...

Does anyone in this group actually know what the stock market is?

Why is everyone complaining about being down in stocks? Just look it up and see why the market is down. A lot of people are posting about being ₹2,000-₹5,000 in the red and asking if they should hold or sell. If you can’t handle seeing red in your portfolio, why invest in stocks at all? This is the stock market, not a guaranteed money-making machine. Your portfolio won’t always be green. Markets go up and down, but as long as you hold, you’re fine. The Entire market is down...

Newbie IPO investor here, please advice

So, I have some money to invest in IPO, I have made losses in FnO and gave it up few months ago. Due to those losses I have lost confidence and hence stopped trading. I applied and later cancelled my application for Mobikwik IPO only to see it getting listed at more than 50% gains. I wanted to ask fellow experienced IPO investors, is GMP credible if one wishes to obtain listing gains. Also, is there a delay in listing and share allotment, I saw some reviews stating it...

I started investing about 8 months ago. And this is my current portfolio. After picking the stocks myself and I just realized that picking stocks isn't my thing and I just want to stick to the mutual funds. The reason for picking those stocks were that they were supposed to be fundamentally good stocks for long run. honestly I didn't put my efforts there when I bought it and I'm realizing it now. Need recommendations on what to do with the mutual funds...
