Mangalore cultural observations after 27 years Following up on my previous post on infrastructure this is my observation visiting Mangalore after 27 years. I left Mangalore in 1997 at age 17 to United States. 1. Lot more men and women wear casual western clothing on streets ( no lungi, dhoti etc). Lot more salwar kameez. In the 90s, majority of women wore sarees. 2. I saw lot more women wearing burqas compared to the 90s. 3. Catholic wedding are more traditonal and indian now.
