To what extent does Smriti injunctions regarding worldly motives (Hetudardhana) apply?

From what I know, Smriti injunctions that have worldly motives are not authoritative. The word for worldly motive is actually “hetudarshanam” or “view to a reason”. I imagine this is a perceptible reason or a deducible reason? How true is this and to what extent does this apply?

Increased empathy naam japa

My empathy for others has increased a lot since doing lalitha naam japa, just saying Sri mata and ram naam japa. I am starting to feel physically sick when eating meat and I am more empathetic to animals. I actually started to cry when I thought about my dogs traumatic past. So I am that kind of person who really doesn't care much about people as much i hate to say it we here might be talking about close ones. But one thing that has always bothered me is why Hanuman ji was such a devotee of Shri Ram. Like why would he go all the way to burn down Lanka for him. Why bring down a whole mountain. They could have asked for anything? Why beauty, victory, fame and the destruction of enemies? Could have been health, wealth, or something else right?

Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I have always had an attraction towards Hinduism (Maybe even Buddhism or Taoism, but mostly Buddhism) ever since i was a child and i heard of it. Now lately i feel the pull towards something like this even more. Trouble is i have a hard time believing in gods. All my life i struggled with depression and anxiety, also with chronic illness. Despite that i do think that maybe there is some higher being. I don't even know where to start....

Why is Sankhya regarded as Āstika rather than Nāstika?

Although I knew the Sankhya school agreed with the authority of Veda, its believers and followers thought the original beginning only existed two entities, Purusha( psychical or mental spirit ) and Prakrit. Additionally, they don't believe in personal gods, including Ishvara. Essentially, Sankhya is considered an atheism of Indian philosophy, but even so, it's still classified as orthodox rather than heterodox. I'm a bit confused. Could anyone else elaborate on why it's like this?
